Guys, I have a dumb stance. In an IF, I hate the trend of removing curly braces. Something about them makes it easier for me to breakdown the logic visually. Would I make someone change it in a PR? No. Do I give it a tiny glare every time I see it? Yes. What is the dumb, smol, silly hangup you have?

I'm working on a skill that takes large PRs, slices them by commits & logic seams, & then creates a stacked PR for you on github. The trigger word is 'pancake' bc I like whimsy in my engineering &, ironically, I feel like AI is taking a lot of that away in favor of more sterile, unified engineering.

Honestly, absolutely living by Chesterton’s Fence these days and it serves me well. Too many times as devs we just remove things we don’t like without ever understanding why they were built in the first place. Embrace curiosity over impatience

The non-deterministic aspect of AI stresses me out. I’m autistic and like the patterns and stability of programming, and have been frustrated by my interactions with AI sometimes. But I do like to learn and grow and don’t want to be left behind. But man it feels bad sometimes

Experienced a company layoff for the first time. My role was safe but others, amazing people I really loved working with, were let go. It’s a weird feeling: guilty, grateful, sad, terrified, jittery, and deflated, all at once. I hope tech can get its act together soon, it’s crazy

You know, when people hear I was once in fashion they’re always so surprised. But being a pattern maker is really similar to building software. Continuous iterations to make the garment fit perfectly, finding the little bugs in the pattern and fixing them. This dress pattern is ready for prod. :)

I really encourage, when using AI, to constantly be questioning it, challenging it, and verifying it. I can't tell you how many times I've typed, "Are you absolutely certain the problem is xyz? There are no edge cases or logic errors you are missing?" And AI comes back with something that it missed.

It was so interesting doing a project in @reactrouter.com after being in @vuejs.org land for so long. I do think Vuejs is easier to approach when learning front end for the first time. Also my first time using Tailwind CSS and MAN is it dangerous how easy it is. One lil class to truncate text, man.
