4) Philippa Marrack In 1983 she and her team discovered and isolated the T-cell receptor and later described several functions of T-cells in the immune system. Her work has contributed to today's knowledge of infections, autoimmune and allergic diseases, vaccines, cancer and HIV.

3) Pearl Kendrick, Grace Eldering and Loney Gordon These three women developed a combined vaccine for diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis, known as the DTP vaccine, which was initially released in 1948.

2) Margaret Pittman Pittman developed a therapeutic antiserum for meningitis caused by a strain of Haemophilus influenza and was involved in the research of vaccines for pertussis (whooping cough), typhoid, tetanus and cholera.

1) Anna Wessels Williams In 1894 Williams isolated a strain of diphtheria bacillus which was used to produce the first antitoxin for diphtheria. In 1898 she created a rabies vaccine and later developed a rapid diagnostic test for rabies.
