To a degree, but most politicians who have gone on to win the nomination for president in the primary era were polling pretty well 2 years out Besides, that name recognition isn't insignificant. We have a reality TV star in the White House who compulsively puts his name on everything

I think he's probably the strongest candidate the Democrats have right now. He's absolutely trivializing his Senate race. My hunch is that the nominee will either be him or Harris (she is still leading the primary polls and the early states are really favorable for her, she has the inside track)

From what I understand, the big exception to point three is Louisiana, who imported everything from france. Which I've heard makes it far and away the most difficult bar exam in the country to pass

At any rate, I don't think it'd matter much either way. The ballots are already printed and Bankhead is on it. You'd have to communicate to all of the voters "hey Dems please vote for Bodnar instead" which is hard to do in just two weeks (and defeats the point of running in ind. in the first place)

I'm pretty skeptical of the "just be sneaky and run an independent in red states and hope the voters don't catch on" strategy for a number of reasons, but this is a big one. You run the risk of having the party not actually agree to play along with the strategy and end up splitting the vote.

Honestly, the Senate map is absolutely horrific for Democrats this year. There's no world in which they should be looking at taking back the Senate at all, and the only reason they're favored to do so now is because of how much backlash Trump has caused against the GOP

Eh, Governor races have always been pretty weird because people are generally far more willing to split the ticket with them, as governors have little impact on federal politics. If KY can have a Dem governor, and VT can elect a GOP governor, it's perfectly believable that the GOP could flip OR-gov
