Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 23hLuncheon: Mrs.N’s made mackerel pâté for her homemade sourdough and pickled kohlrabi. It’s a bit special! 010
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Luncheon; Mrs.N’s done a chicken Caesar salad with left over roast chicken from last night’s tea, anchovies, croutons from her sourdough crusts, and other stuff. Vibrant! 010
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I was very keen on the self adhesive accessories: they were pocket money prices unlike the cars…and you could stick them on to any old car. 001
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Towards Barnsley: 6.49am, Tuesday. Good to find my photography footmarks still there in the long grass. 020
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Luncheon: Mrs.N’s done shredded spicy beef and bashed beans …in lettuce. Different and delicious! 000
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Luncheon: fried halloumi and mango chutney on toasted sourbread…with a dressed rocket salad. Lovely and different!! 040
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Luncheon: Mrs.N’s done Parma ham with cauliflower shavings and a dressing of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, lemon and honey dressing. Accompanied by her home baked tear and share milk loaf. Crunchy cauliflowers! 030
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Luncheon: a corned beef teacakes…more like a small loaf. It was a rush between getting in from a meeting (yes a real one) and a Teams call. Corned beef, whole grain mustard & mayo. 010
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Ah, so you’ll get the rest of it when it’s all paid up? 010
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Luncheon: Mrs.N’s assembled a prawn and avocado salad. It’s lovely. And whilst it may be almost cracking the flags in places like Wakey, here, it’s atmosphericly autumnal…not exactly salad weather! 021
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 28/09/202617/36… a consequence of streaming music rather then buying the album. I had no idea what the album art was. 131
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Tea: following a marvellous piece of cod in gravy (well it looked like it…but Mrs.N tells me it was a miso, mirim, soy and ginger glaze), pudding’s been her lemon posset with fresh raspberries. A triumph! 051
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Luncheon: Mrs.N’s rustled up her trout pâté, with toasted home baked sourdough and pickled home-grown kohlrabi. Rather splendid! 061
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Luncheon: Mrs.N’s made mushroom and tarragon soup with miso, accompanied by her home baked milk bread. Very tasty (and magical bread) 071
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Phew! I’m glad about that review because my copy is arriving tomorrow (I’m pleased I’ve not bought a dud). 021
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Agreed. It’s a revelation! And Longley Farm is just down the road from us. 021
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Luncheon: baked sweet potato with Longley Farm cottage cheese and a salad incorporating the last of Mrs.N’s kohlrabi from the garden (excepting the stuff she’s pickled) 190
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Luncheon: Mrs.N’s made caramelised garlic hummus and bought raw vegetables. And we’re having it alfresco in the grounds… 040
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Luncheon; back home and Mrs. N’s made celery soup, topped with scatterings of cracked black pepper and nutritional yeast. I’m now having to steal a couple of hours of office time to tend to a neglected garden. 080
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Tea: I’m in a Premier Inn near Goole. The joy of bread and butter being offered is the opportunity make chip butties… 021
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Luncheon: Gloucester Services and Mrs.N and I are sharing a sandwich pile: cheese, ham and tuna. Nothing fancy! 011
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 16/09/2026In my job, when doing research, I often find myself going down rabbit holes (metaphorically). Most of the time you question whether you should but sometimes (like this morning) you find a huge rabbit…and it’s very satisfying. So, I’m chuffed with this morning’s work! 021
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 16/09/2026This has reminded me of my first pair of footie boots - solid toecap and the later Adidas Koala boots that are still in the loft. 132
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Luncheon on the balcony: Mrs.N’s made pea and asparagus orzotto…accompanied by a glass of lovely rosé. It always feels very decadent have warm food with a glass of wine at lunchtime outside. 021
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Mrs.N’s just sent me this.., on our way to luncheon today…we were driving alfresco! 011
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Post luncheon double espresso at The Rocket Store, Boscastle… 010
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Luncheon (2): in other places when you put bread under the grill, it’s toast but at the Rocket Store, it’s Grilled Bread (and is fantastic!). 000
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Luncheon: a trip to the Rocket Store, Boscastle is turning into a highlight of our visits to Cornwall. We still don’t know whether the name reflects a history of storing rockets for maritime use; a garage for a particularly racy car or boat of the 1920’s; or a warehouse for salad leaves. 010
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Luncheon: Mrs.N’s made celery soup, with some very acceptable shop bought, local sourdough. Taken on the balcony at the holiday hut and before this afternoon’s adventures together. 060
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Short update: morning coffee is postponed until this afternoon due to weather… 000
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Luncheon: Mrs.N’s grilled some fresh Cornish mackerel, and made an apple, celery, boozy raisin and pomegranate seed salad…alfresco (in warm, light drizzle). Lovely stuff! 020
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Luncheon: I fancied a lobster salad, but surprisingly none of the local eating establishments had it on their menu. Consequently, it was trusty Plan B…beans on toasted sourdough - the beans fortified with Worcester Sauce and topped with Parmesan cheese. Very satisfying! 010
Reposted by Alyn NichollsOlaf Falafel @ofalafel.bsky.social · 12/09/2026I come from a long line of conga dancers. 217232
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Luncheon. Nothing fancy pants today…we’re at the holiday hut and Mrs.N’s made chilled watermelon, cucumber and tomato soup, followed by a scone, strawberry jam and clotted cream - presented the Yorkshire way (to avoid confusion). 010
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Luncheon: we’re at the seaside, so I had fish & chips at Nathan Outlaw’s. Locally caught tuna, with stuff and a bowl of chips. Accompanied by a bottle of a silky, light, German Pinot Noir 010
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 09/09/2026Luncheon: fish again (because we’re in Cornwall). We enjoyed the informality of sitting at the bar in Mr Stein’s establishment and shared plates of prawn toast, salmon, tuna, scallops and thus amazing octopus… Accompanied by a glass of the local sparkling Pinot noir. 000
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 08/09/2026Luncheon: Fish Kitchen, Port Issac where we had dab, brill, trout and tuna, Dover sole, scallops and tuna. Then a bass with onions (yes, onions!) and chips and puddings. Accompanied Camel Valley rosé. And I had an espresso An excellent adventure! 020
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Luncheon: beef, brown sauce and crisps teacakes, with a bottle of pop. We’re on the balcony of our holiday hut. 1110
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Morning coffee: Americano as it’s now called…it used to be just “black”. My usual rule taking snaps is to avoid casting a shadow. However, does a reflection count? 030
Alyn Nicholls @alyn.bsky.social · 06/09/2026I’m very pleased that Senior Grandson is doing A Level music - but he has to travel to a different school for lessons. 010
