Suddenly, video games were no longer just about guns and football; they could tell engrossing, emotional stories with characters I genuinely cared about. I imagine "Chrono Trigger" had a similar impact on gamers not belong before, and Personas 3, 4, 5 on those thereafter.

"Final Fantasy VIII." I first played it when I was in middle school, and it hit me at exactly the right age. The captivating story, the teenage angst, dealing with abandonment, the characters trying to figure out who they were, and the theme of overcoming adversity all really stuck with me.
