!! SONG CHECKPOINT !! quote this with the song you’re listening to, or the last song you listened to

This image shows the music player screen of a mobile device. At the top, the time is displayed as “17:02.” Below that is the album cover for the song “Mind Control” by the band Giant Rooks. The album art features a black-and-white photo of five silhouetted figures standing on a hill, with a minimalistic and moody aesthetic. The text “MIND CONTROL” is prominently displayed in large, bold, red letters, with a subtitle above that reads, “reality never really what it seems.” The band members’ names—Finn Schwieters, Finn Thomas, Jonathan Wischniowski, Frederik Rabe, and Luca Göttner—are listed below the title in smaller text. At the bottom, the song’s progress bar shows it is nearing the end, with “2:11” elapsed and “-0:25” remaining.

I'm looking through a smattering of images and we as a fandom have a lot of work to do here.

2010 Ju shared this gem on her sm accounts and it is still as important today as it was 14 years ago.

This image is a flowchart titled “Should I Make Art?” by John Osebold. It guides the reader through a series of questions to help them decide whether they should make art. The questions include:
1. “Do you have a formal arts education?” If yes, it says, “Great! Use it.” If no, it says, “Doesn’t matter.”
2. “Do you know anyone in the art scene?” If yes, it says, “Wonderful, they can help.” If no, it says, “That doesn’t matter either.”
3. “Have you made art before?” If yes, it asks, “Why are we talking then?” If no, it says, “Okay, listen, not all art has to be in a gallery or a book or on stage, just make something for yourself or your friend or just because you’re alive and you’re contributing to the masterpiece of humanity. OK? I love you.”

The chart ultimately directs everyone to “MAKE ART” in a bold red box, encouraging the idea that art can and should be created by anyone, regardless of background or experience.

The final piece of advice I would like to give to new folks tonight is that Bluesky will be what you make of it. When I came over from the former Twitter, I resolved to be more kind to others here than I was over there. That choice has made being here so much better. Keep it in mind for yourself.
