With my telescope + camera, I am following the evolution of the supernova SN 2026aaiv in NGC 7331. Up to now I have been able to collect data over 6 nights through g and r Sloan filters. With Claude I have developed a full automatic pipeline to build the light curve. 🔭🧪

Captured this last Friday with my 250 mm f/4 Newtonian: a stack of 10x300s exposures through a Sloan g filter. The yellow arrow points to the 19th-magnitude historic Cepheid variable discovered by Edwin Hubble that proved M31 sits far outside the Milky Way. 🔭🧪

Our new results are out! We have observed a single nuclear recoil in our detector that we find difficult to explain with our background model. Could it be a hint of dark matter? It’s far too early to say, but it’s certainly intriguing! #darkmatter

In one of my picture of the eclipse, taken a little bit before sunset I have a spot on the Moon. It is probably an artefact but there is a slight chance that it is the flash of a meteorite smashing the moon. May I ask you to check your pictures for a similar spot around 18:50 UTC ? 🧪 🔭

Here is a gif animation with my pictures of the total solar eclipse. Note that as I used a filter made from an Astrosolar sheet, the color is very close to the true solar color which is whitish. The Sun is not yellow. The reddish color at the end is the result of atmosphere absorption. 🔭🧪

This evening at sunset from the beach in La Serena (Chile) I took this photo of the Sun just before it disappeared. No need for fancy hardware, just a camera, a little bit of zoom and the atmosphere that acts as a filter and you get several sunspot groups. 🔭
Several sunspot groups are seen on this picture of the Sun taken with just a camera and using the atmosphere as a filter.

🔭 The Bipolar Jets of KX Andromedae Image Credit & Copyright: Tim Schaeffer and the Deep Sky Collective apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap25120...
Blasting outward from variable star KX Andromedae, these stunning bipolar jets are 19 light-years long. Recently discovered, they are revealed in unprecedented detail in this deep telescopic image centered on KX And and composed from over 692 hours of combined image data. In fact, KX And is spectroscopically found to be an interacting binary star system consisting of a bright, hot B-type star with a swollen cool giant star as its co-orbiting, close companion. The stellar material from the cool giant star is likely being transferred to the hot B-type star through an accretion disk, with spectacular symmetric jets driven outward perpendicular to the disk itself. The known distance to KX And of 2,500 light-years, angular size of the jets, and estimated inclination of the accretion disk lead to the size estimate for each jet of an astonishing 19 light-years.

A picture featuring the LSST Camera in-dome calibration white screen. Scientists use the white screen at left and a uniform light source to measure variations in the 3.2 billion pixels of the LSST Camera. These variations are due to the natural variations from manufacturing the detectors, not variations in the light we collect from space. Scientists use the calibration information they collect using this screen to account for these manufacturing variations in their science data.
