I seriously recommend it, it's now up there with the likes of Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul as candidates for the best shows of all time for me! It's not *perfect* perfect, but they strike such a good balance between drama and black comedy, rarely failing to portray their characters as imperfect, but ultimately loveable people, all in their own and messy ways.

That said, it can be very rough to watch at times. Basically every major character ends up going through some insufferable shit (the final season aired in 2019, for vague and dooming context,) but that also makes those rare euphoric moments, where the inmates get to have some payback, form genuine human connections, or just *be people* within a system that wants to strip that right from them, feel all the more gratifying.

I spent some of my break time this week reading through Yūki Kamatani's Our Dreams at Dusk / Shimanami Tasogare, and I heartily recommend you do the same. It's a gorgeous story about both the joys and struggles of being queer, with a whole bunch of beautifully and realistically written characters.
