It turns back into a normal table during the summer too, which is nice

I wanted a kotatsu for ages but was impossibly expensive to get a proper one over here So I ordered one of the heaters and a step down transformer and rigged it together myself. Does the job! If you try this *ONLY* use an actual kotatsu heater and properly rated transformer or it can go very wrong

Typing of the Dead + kotatsu + rain blasting the windows = MAXIMUM COMFORT 🧟🖨️💖

A Sega Dreamcast setup, including keyboard and mouse. It is sitting on a kotatsu style low table, with a blanket and heating element. It's very cosy.

Also, that's a really lovely looking unit!! I have a similar Sony one in need of a bit of repair, but will be setting it up similarly

Alpha Chrome Yayo @alphachromeyayo.com · 25/09/2026

Oh nice!! It's just a TV aerial, with the signal booster ahead of it in the chain to give it a bit more oomph. If you have something like this sitting about or oldschool rabbit ears it should do the job! You're basically using it the opposite way to normal use, ie. sending rather than receiving

110

Alpha Chrome Yayo @alphachromeyayo.com · 25/09/2026

Btw you can broadcast just about any source to this handheld TV, doesn't have to just be from the PC Here's Shenmue, straight from my Dreamcast, wirelessly, just as Yu Suzuki surely intended

Alpha Chrome Yayo @alphachromeyayo.com · 25/09/2026

Actually playing this on PC now and man, I'm gonna be taking screenshots every two seconds aren't I? SUCH a sense of time and place. Obviously set in Scotland but also reminds me of some peninsula towns here in NI. And stuff like that hatchback covered in bird shite under a lamp post is PERFECT.

Screenshot from Silent Hill: Townfall. A red hatchback car a bit like a Renault 306 or something is parked under a lamppost by the water's edge. The roof is covered in bird shit, right under where a seagull might be perched.

Screenshot from Silent Hill: Townfall. A shop window has various bits of typical shite for sale, like a ceramic cat and three piggy banks. It's all a bit creepy. There's also a no smoking sign, and a sign saying "Support St Amelia Lifeboat"

Screenshot from Silent Hill: Townfall. A foggy village street, with ratty bunting blowing about.

Screenshot from Silent Hill: Townfall. One of those Guide Dog charity boxes you'd see in the 90s, in the shape of a labrador. It's got a hole in its head where you put coins. I'd forgotten they existed.

If you're curious about how this works, it's basically broadcasting a very short range TV channel PC to HDMI/AV converter AV to RF modulator Modulator to signal booster Booster to aerial TV tuned to channel 69 SCIENCE!

Aw yeah, new Bug Ego today! This manga rules. Crisp art, wild plot and big chunky issues. Super recommended.

A manga panel showing a dude who appears to be surfing, nude, through the air on a stream of water or electricity. The thing he is surfing on is pixelated out. The reason for that is that it is a shite he is surfing on. An actual shite.

I burned my foot really badly the other day, which sucked, and it's all bandaged up now On the plus side though, I've been having fun skulking about pretending I'm Chai from Shenmue One of the best grotty gremlin guys
