My original point is that doing positive promo towards 120k pp for a transphobic person’s work, ESPECIALLY when that person has said they use royalties to further transphobic laws, is very icky. Also you can’t separate the art from the artist if they’re alive and able to be held accountable.

130

To be clear I grew up absolutely in love with HP, so I understand the grief of growing up and realizing she’s a piece of shit

130

There are plenty of other books to platform in 2025- especially when JKR’s royalties goes towards monetarily supporting transphobic laws in the UK. You can have nostalgic love for HP and still not platform and do publicity for it (in this case to the 120k followers this person has)

240

I like to share community with creators of color, queer creators, etc. who have expressed many times how these authors have harmed their communities. And I listen to them and speak up against problematic (racist, Zionist, queerphobic) authors. If that bothers you feel free to block and move on.

150

I’m not sure what you mean by that

“I’ve gained over 120k followers on Bookstagram in less than 6 months and here’s how I did it” *has Harry Potter books DIRECTLY next to their head in the video* *Taylor Jenkins Reid in March Wrap Up* So you did it by not having morals or something? #booksky

I loathe when people review Middle Grade books, only to be like “the MC was annoying and immature at times” like…. the MC is 13? News flash but 13 year olds can by annoying and immature sometimes. #booksky

Just saw someone pitch their book as “if ACOTAR mated with Handmaid’s Tale, but women are in charge and there were dragons.” And honestly I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around that description. #booksky

I get that I’m a just a white girl on the internet but when ppl comment “that’s for the _____ community to decide” WHEN IM LITERALLY JUST RELAYING INFORMATION I HAVE LEARNED FROM THAT SPECIFIC COMMUNITY it really just grinds my gears

I’m hoping they’ll clarify within a few days too

They just said starting April 3rd they are no longer shipping to the US. The paperbacks I ordered haven’t even been released so they haven’t taken my money yet…. while they haven’t made a statement on preorders I doubt they’ll ship them out

100

I don’t think they’ll be shipping out preorders :(

It just hit me that I have a Waterstones preorder 😭😭😭 RIP to the beautiful UK paperback editions of We Hunt the Flame and We Free the Stars by Hafsah Faizal that I was going to get my hands on (And also Plestia Alaqad’s book, but I can get that on US sites) #booksky

As Bluesky has grown, I've seen a lot of backsliding on alt text. Please try to be considerate to others and include alt text with all of your images. It helps everyone. Indeed, in the "accessibility" setting in Bluesky you can set it to make sure you add alt text, which is a useful thing to do.

Require alt text before posting

I don’t! Thanks for the recommendation ☺️

Last year I read Light from Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki, and this year I’m reading Dreadnought by April Daniels.

When building my @trreadathon.bsky.social TBR I noticed a lack of Trans femme/Trans woman representation in the fantasy books on my lifetime TBR. So I’m looking for Trans femme/Trans woman rep in fantasy or sci-fi books! Please give me your recommendations! #booksky #trr25

From what I’ve read of The Diablo’s Curse so far it’s not too spoilery (minus that one really big spoiler but like they cover that early on) so I totally think they could be read in either order!
