Teach for Proficiency, No Matter the Circumstance. Workshop on Tues 7/8/25 in Braintree, MA. Many WL teachers strive to embrace the @actfl.bsky.social guidelines for proficiency; yet adopting this framework takes ⏰ & adjustment... #IteachWL #langchat #edSky

Oooh this is so good! “[CI], interaction & repetition are all vital…teachers can use the explicit and implicit in a synergistic way. Teach & practise grammar at the right time…but don't overdo it & remember that what we think we are teaching is not necessarily ending up in students' heads.”

Fellow Spanish speakers, the podcast “ojalá lo hubiera sabido antes “ is so good! Episode on when 2 intervene & advise others: did they ask 4 my help? Do I have time? Do I want 2? If no, “déjales” live and learn. More on the temptation to control others: open.spotify.com/episode/2rRb...

Waiting for prez speech to start, thinking Stephen Colbert would make a good Mike Johnson on @saturdaynightlive.bsky.social, not as perfect a lookalike as Fey & Palin, but close!

#langchat @langchatpln.bsky.social #iteachwl #summer #Edsky #teacher what do my fellow teachers do for 💵 in the summer? I cant work the full 8 weeks, but can do 1-2 weeks here and there. What kind of job can that be? Need some ideas! Tutoring is an option but I wanna do something different!

There’s a 1 pt difference bt a B- & a C+ but the latter sends honors students into a tailspin; B- preserves relationship w teacher but C+ feels more truthful: which 2 give? Anyone else run into this conundrum when grading holistically (rubric)? #langchat #edsky #iteachwl

@langchatpln.bsky.social Oldie but goodie 2 day. 1 student describes art on board, the other draws, switch. Pics were of protest art (end of Guernica unit). Today = Guerilla Girls, John & Yoko. 2morrow = Diego Rivera, etc. Protest art is cool. #edsky #artsined #langchat #ADI #CI #protestart

So someone hit the billion dollar jackpot in California! Damn! I’d buy 4 homes (MA, MD, VT & 🇪🇸), save $ for my mom & daughter’s futures, send my husband to biz school (his dream!), hire a personal chef, cleaner, trainer, masseuse, & acupuncturist & donate the rest. What would you do??

How many vocab words should pre AP honors students be learning in a week or in a month? My instinct says I need to teach waaaay more vocab. wondering what my fellow #edssky #langchat #actfl24 #iteachwl teachers think?

#langchat teachers of AP or pre AP, i have a question: I want to make powerpoints of useful vocab w synonyms in the TL & graphics but dont have time. Do any of you have your students make stuff like this? How do you structure an assignment like this? Classwork? Homework? Individual? Pairs? Curious!

Got to hear from Dr lisa Damour (author of emotional lives of teens) at school. Biggest takeaway: school is supposed to be hard, like weight lifting! Got me thinking abt some places where I prob need to raise the bar higher for my students! #iteachwl #langchat #blueteach #teens #edchat #stress
