bit of a vent but like kinda tired of people assuming I'm all good and can handle things because I don't wear my trauma on my sleeves lmao just because I don't share my life doesn't mean I'm not struggling in my life you know? I shouldn't have to prove I'm hurting to get sympathy or empathy.

it's like I struggled to realize how much my life took a toll on me growing up because whenever I talked about something truly traumatic people either A. didn't know how to respond B. Downplayed it or C. "oof, sorry" and it just feels nice to be seen in a way I didn't know I needed

Something that I take great relief in is my wife and my best friends take my struggles and traumatic history seriously and fully sit with it I hesitate to share deeper details of my life outside of one off jokes or statements with 99% of people

Woke up to this news and I’m beyond disgusted. It’s a US *constitutional right* now to create and own ‘CSAM,’ as long as it was made with AI?? AI gen images are built from real images, of real children. This directly re-exploits every single CSAM survivor. (More in 🧵) #abolition #trafficking

A federal judge has ruled that the First Amendment protects an individual's right to privately possess child sexual abuse content created using Al if it does not depict a real person and remains in the home.
On Tuesday, Judge John Z. Lee of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th District ruled that the First Amendment protects an individual's right to privately possess images or videos of child sexual abuse created using artificial intelligence if the material does not depict a real person and remains in the home. In his ruling, Judge Lee urged the Supreme Court to reconsider the issue of virtual abuse material of children in the age of Al, suggesting that technological advances complicate existing legal precedent.
The case Lee ruled on came about in 2024 when the Department of Justice brought charges against Steven Anderegg, alleging that he used Al to create thousands of explicit images of children. He was accused of breaking federal obscenity laws by producing, distributing and possessing obscene visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Anderegg sought to have the possession and production charges dismissed under the First Amendment. Last year, a judge in the Western District of Wisconsin agreed to dismiss the possession charge, prompting the federal prosecutors to appeal.
Lee, in his ruling upholding the lower court's decision, cited the precedent set by Supreme Court rulings from 1969 and 2002. One held that individuals have a right to possess obscenity in the privacy of their home. The other found that "virtual" child sexual abuse material, not depicting a real person is not child pornography.

with everything coming out of megaplex this year, this feels worth sharing. end overdose has a free online course about how to respond to suspected overdoses. it only takes ~20 minutes and you get a free naloxone kit mailed to you at the end. (it also features a very cute cat)

Graphic with text promoting Overdose Awareness Month in August, featuring a cartoon cat and naloxone nasal spray, with a call to support ending overdose. website link is endoverdose.net or @end.overdose on instagram

are we mother and daughter in every lifetime?
I hope not.
I hope in another life, I am never born, and she is never burdened with being a mother.
her pain won't bleed into mine, and I won't spend a lifetime trying to heal what she couldn't.

You're waking up every day your making food taking showers doing what you can where you can in making funds and I'm sure you take care of friends and/or family when you're able you didn't ask to be in this world, yet you live in it you work hard every day, in just living you earn every dime

I understand the feeling a lot but don't let it hold you down to much, asking for help is a skill and necessity in social animals (humans((us)) and we gotta learn to use it time to time from couch surfing to crowdfunding you're important, and needing help is in no way pathetic, it's necessary

Hey hi, food has been getting low, especially with the options of stuff to make for the disabled bestie I live with. I got until Wednesday before I can go back to the foodbank to get loaded with more to work with, so any amount is massively appreciated and it'll go mostly with emergency groceries!
