Maybe journalists could do better as when 4 Johns Hopkins Livable Future authors cite Zhang’s meta‑analysis, note that EPA HED and Judge Chhabria found serious methodological flaws, calling it effectively 'junk science.' Yet outlets like SciAm, CNN, and The Guardian still report it & omit ECHA/EFSA.

DPA §707 immunity is narrow covering compliance with gov’t production orders, not preexisting torts. It doesn’t erase Roundup claims (design defect, failure to warn, negligence). Executive orders can’t “magically” grant immunity—claims to the contrary reflect journalistic negligence.

By highlighting corporate lobbying, jury awards, and MAHA activists & omitting the complexity of toxicology, the role of other expert bodies, the litigation infrastructure on the anti-glyphosate side, the piece turns a nuanced scientific and legal controversy into a simple morality play.

I’d disagree. Classic lies of omission shouldn’t be the bar by which professional journalism is judged adequate, when truth, fairness, independence, & accountability are routinely missing in glyphosate coverage. The IARC Monograph program cannot be compared to world regulatory authorities.

Acute toxicity data, is dependent on species/route of exposure and does not reliably predict chronic health or ecological outcomes. A focus on safety data sheets or public commentators such as Patrick Moore does not address the core scientific issue -> the carcinogenicity of glyphosate.
100
Brian H Mathison @allthingstox.com · 20/02/2026
Glyphosate litigation centers on claims of design defect, failure to warn, and negligence. Except for Johnson v. Monsanto, where the plaintiff experienced unusually high exposure from a leaky backpack sprayer, claims of “large doses” or ingestion safety are inaccurate.
100
Brian H Mathison @allthingstox.com · 20/02/2026
Safety data sheets pale in comparison to regulatory filings, dietary exposure to glyphosate is most relevant pathway for most and source of non-invassive detection in urine. This also for farmers/applicators. Numerous biomonitoring studies, and yes, dermal is an exposure route [see Gillezeau (2019)]

Brian H Mathison @allthingstox.com · 20/02/2026
Your article fails to capture the complexties of glyphosate toxicology and ongoing litigation. I don't align 100% with many of the personalities you mention, but do with many the regulatory professionals that support glyphosate exposures do not appear to be substantial factor for any cancer.
