I feel no joy in the pain that high gas prices cause people. I also understand that some folks feel they have no alternative but to drive. But there are millions of people who can replace certain trips with a bike/e-bike and many people who make that leap discover it makes life better in many ways.

The only thing a driver hates more than a cyclist yielding a stop sign is a cyclist stopping at a stop sign Tropes aside, a bike simply is not a car. All 5 senses are activated when you are on a bike. You travel at human speeds with 30 extra lbs Stop signs were created because cars are dangerous.

Real freedom is taking a bus or the metro, walking somewhere else, and taking a bike share home. No parking. No gasoline. No poisoning neighborhoods. No $1000+/month payment to oil and auto companies to simply exist.

Ah, so Trump sees the whole AI taking down the world issue as literal marching robots lol... not something as simple as creating mass chaos by taking down banks, electric grids, or internet bottlenecks.

The thing is, the Segway was indeed revolutionary technology, and has paved a way for incredible micromobility advancements, including my beloved EUC. The other thing is, there are no bike lanes for people to embrace micromobility bc normies can't handle thinking beyond the car.

Riding along on my cabi electric, as I love to do, Random guy on a bike jokingly says "hey you're cheating", I can't help but reply "cheating at what?" Maybe I can't take a joke, but really I just don't understand the joke.

We already know the power of the oil and auto industries. We already know the corruption and insanity of the us govt. US doubling down on oil. Banning Chinese EVs. Everything more expensive everywhere. Suddenly a morale panic appears targeting the only accessible remedy to the madness. It's weird

yeah but a key difference here is that free parks and free public schools build a healthier and more educated population and free parking turns a bunch of adults into entitled children who shit their pants on the internet.

Meanwhile we beg and plead for protected bike lanes, But are told we must first and foremost prioritize the single occupancy metal tanks that feed the oil companies their endless profit.

DDOT continues to publish before/after analyses of safety projects. The numbers for the 9th street NW bike lanes suggest that we should be doing these projects everywhere we can. Crashes plummeted, pedestrian and bike traffic skyrocketed, and vehicle travel times dropped.

Maybe pedestrianize a couple pedestrian heavy areas to drive home the point. Give the people a taste of what a better life could actually be like. But then again, that would probably require a police bill of half a milli. But then again, we have a lot of NG standing around with nothing to do.
