#WIPSnips - Gods Play House Saw this prompt and immediately thought "Oh boy, which instance of 'nation' do I get to use for a story that takes place 'in Magi Nation?'" despite knowing the clear answer.

“I don’t think you should worry too much about that.”

“Why not?” Seemore asks.

“Because none of this is real,” Lyric says, shutting his eyes. “I mean, it’s real to us, so don’t get freaked out, but this is just a Story, and we’re Gods. We’ll fix it, it’ll just take time, but time can’t stop us…”

“Muse,” Seemore says. “We live in Magi Nation. Of course none of this is real. It’s not a secret.”

Lyric opens an eye. “…What?”

“Yeah, no,” Seemore says, shutting his own eyes to lean against the wall like Lyric is doing. “We’re in the land of make-believe. Imagination, in Magi Nation… Everyone I know in Wimdy knows that. But we’re just trying to live our lives anyway. My life is real to me, and the impacts I make are real to the people I help.” He opens an eye to look at Lyric from the side while the other two stay closed. “Wait, is that something they only teach out in Wimdy? Do other high schools not have freshman philosophy and that course on the inherent non-existence of the world and the value of kindness despite it?”

#WIPSnips - Gods Play House Been a while since I posted one of these, but here we have more Seemore and his first dive into the Uncanon Valley

Seemore looks down into the darkness. Even with the pitch black, he can see flashes of blue, just like the Mortals who rarely get to peer into the Valley say. The cause of the rumor of some monster living in the Pits that sends up the Bad Ideas that rarely escape the Valley…

But the blue is just Metta’s familiar glow… And the Ideas feel familiar too… In a way he isn’t sure how to describe…

He jumps, holding onto his hat with invisible hands. He tumbles down faster than the elevator and loses sight of it as the light of the Haven is swallowed up by the darkness of the Valley. And yet, as he sinks into the inky well of Ideas, it feels comforting. Not unlike sinking into a comfortable armchair with a fresh cup of coffee and a new detective novel to read…

As he lands, safely and on his feet and with his hat still on his head, he stands and looks around in all directions at once at the Ideas staring back at him…

“You fucken want something or…?” he asks the empty void. The Eye-deas avert their gaze. Seemore tilts his head up, eying something of his own, something he hadn’t previously been able to see… “Oh, is that what it looks like when you’re writing the World?”

The Narrative sits flummoxed, mere paces away, that the Detective could so readily read the Story. The Story, in turn, turns to light the path for Seemore, with the visage of their dozens of glowing blue screens.

“Impressive dive there, Seemore,” Metta greets. Seemore stares at the screens, at the writing, at the Ideas, and shrugs before following the screens to where Metta’s main face and body are waiting with Inkwell barely visible beside him. “Not surprised both you and POV are willing to dive in…”

I got a comment from someone on an unfinished fic saying how much they'd want to see it finished so I finished it and I guess I wrote too fast for them that I think they suspect I used AI like no dude I'm skilled enough to write 50k words in a week if motivated enough

#WIPSnips - Gods Play House The Gods love to play with time travel, but Seemore's first experience with it is less typical than he would expect.

“Nim, I have no idea what is happening.”

“You’re fine.” Professor Nim looks at the pocket watch again. “You’re reset for this story. After all, it’s the beginning of a new one. Why wouldn’t we start you at full health?”

“You started me in media res,” Seemore reminds. He looks out the window. “In the middle of a train ride… I’m not starting at full capacity.”

“No, I suppose not.” Professor Nim hums. “Well, that won’t be a problem—”

“Why aren’t story and narrative capitalized?” Seemore asks.

“Ah-ah!” Professor Nim reaches over and holds a finger over his lips. “That’s one of the rules. No Meta-chanics. We’re playing around Mortals who don’t know these elements…” He motions at the pocket watch. “Because the gods behind them aren’t gods yet.”

Seemore frowns. “You’re not going to question that I could see that dialogue?”

Professor Nim shakes his head. “No. You’re a bit like me. I borrow from Metta, and you? You can tap into Inkwell in ways none of us expected.” He laughs. “Honestly, I had my money on that Lyric taking up that mantle. But, no, I think he loves them best from the outside rather than inside their heads.”

Seemore hums. “You say that, but I don’t think I’m supposed to see the spelling on someone’s voice when I’m not in the Valley…”

“Oh, one mystery at a time! I’m sure whatever is happening you’ve been pulled from, you’ll solve it…”

Joel had gotten them from the miracle workers at Muriel Rampersand’s parlors, off the legal market, and totally pro-bono. That was the benefit of knowing people.
He was Arthur Beuller’s coach and probably his friend, knew the Scales in a fairly friendly capacity because of it, and what had started as a brag during a touch-up appointment to his color changing scalemail tattoo sleeves had garnered enough attention that the boss himself had turned up.
Very few people could make him feel small the way Muriel Rampersand did. But the man could talk the right talk, and he had a killer secret menu.
