Disney trying to forced their properties in my face from yet another source is what I find revolting. They have so many of their own spaces, they don't need this one too. It's like we're being stalked and harassed by a media company.

Alli Shaw @allidrawscomics.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Disney has used its resources to gobble up competition instead of investing in skilled storytellers and it shows. They are cheaping out and playing it safe wherever possible. A cheap half-assed reboot will never excite anyone the way your unhinged yaoi melodrama will. Go be weird, hotties.

Disney bought a comics giant like Marvel and instead of using their own existing platform they're switching to Webtoon. That should strike you as weird. That feels desperate. The eyes are not on them and they think the platform is the problem.

I find this revolting but not because I think it's actually a threat to indie comics. Disney has been trying to muscle its way into the manga sphere for a while via Tokyopop. Is anyone even aware?

Phantomarine is updated - Ch 7 p 69 Who are you, mysterious little godling? www.phantomarine.com/comic/769-po... #webcomics

A panel from Phantomarine. Cheth and Cheline look down on the Raven, who stands reverently between them. Cheline looks angry. Cheth looks wide-eyed but more neutral. Other acolytes look on, including the Canary.

For the sake of posterity I want to make sure we don't lose Tapas' announcement of Kakao's takeover back in 2021. Begging developers to keep in mind how quickly a buyout sours if their goals for a platform actually matter to them. Tapastic wanted to be the Youtube of comics.

Well yeah, if they tell everyone on the site that they're shutting down in a matter of weeks no one will spend any more money on ink RIGHT NOW

Today was a laundry and clean the kitchen day that turned into a get a milkshake, do line art for the smut, and then bang out a thumbnail while procrastinating day in case anyone was wondering

Alli Shaw @allidrawscomics.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

What if I just list every possible chore that needs doing and trick myself into procrastinating by drawing everything

1461

Alli Shaw @allidrawscomics.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

My attention span is so bratty. Past Me writes "thumbnails" on my to-do list, Present Me can only draw smut. Past Me schedules "finish the smut" Present me can only work on thumbnails. Past me writes "draw anything" Present me does laundry. List is empty I can do nothing.

FYI, from Toocheke. They added a Tapas migration feature.

A screenshot of an email that says

Import Your Tapas.io Comics Into WordPress
You may have seen the news about Tapas shutting down. If you or anyone you know publish there, you’re probably wondering what happens to all of your comics and years of work.

We’ve just added a new import feature to Toocheke Companion (available in version 2.23+) that can move an entire Tapas series into WordPress for you — including episodes, images, thumbnails, and original publish dates.

It keeps everything in order, so you don’t have to manually copy and paste hundreds of pages.

I'm disappointed to hear that people with their comics tied up in contracts with them weren't given any sort of heads up. I hope they communicate their plans with creators soon.

Not to mention any originals that get reassigned will expect me to buy chapters I've already paid for.

I started publishing Tigress Queen on Tapastic in January of 2014. I got a welcome email from Michael Son complimenting specific elements of my comic. The comment culture was so kind. It was such a shame to see how it changed. For all the issues I had with you I'm still sorry to see you go.

Alli Shaw @allidrawscomics.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

There was so much emphasis on being "one of the greats" like men can't just have favorite creators they have to agree on specific people being geniuses worthy of worship and judge each other based on if they idolize the same people. Do you want to be an artist or an acolyte???

Alli Shaw @allidrawscomics.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

I went in blind and legitimately thought one of them was gonna die. Every 5 minutes I was just like "men are so fucking weird" bc this music teacher thinks he's a drill sergeant and the student is so hungry for daddy's boot despite not having daddy issues

If your art gives you anxiety because of how an instructor or editor is going to react to it please just cut that person out of your life. Your art is more important than whatever perfectionist, elitist bullshit they're trying to prop their egos up on.

Jazz is dying you say? Could that be because you're giving PTSD to anyone with enough passion and resources to go to a big fancy music school for it perhaps? Musicians who off themselves young are so much better than ones who get old enough to outshine you, huh?

You know how some "romance" movies are actually horror movies that don't realize they're horror movies? Whiplash (2014) is a horror movie about two narcissists on the verge of killing each other that THINKS it's some kind of inspirational drama

Games don't have to look realistic. That was only a flex when consoles were in a polygon arms race. If your human character's face has the proportions of a cat's and has their eyebrows running down the sides of their nose to make that >:( expression then I don't want to see their pores

Alli Shaw @allidrawscomics.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

There's a trend with video game art styles wanting to be realistic and cartoony at the same time which is already uncanny valley enough, but then they talk and gesture in ways that make my skin crawl
