Saw a video in which a mustache guy said enterprises doing "serious" work have enterprise AI plans and pay per token. Then he said in the future subscriptions won't exist; "intelligence" will become too cheap to "meter". Access to real tools is paywalled and future electricity costs will be zero. 🧐

As someone interviewing an economist said, "That dystopian ship has sailed". In reference to people not having access to LLM tools given that almost all of them, cost real money to use. With no income and no measurable return on investment, there is no way I'm going to pay to play.

Put in another solid day and set of features in my app side project. Thought through some needed feature ideas and came up with a slick implementation. No agents but me in my code (FWIW). I know what my thought process was and how I got in done. Multiple long term maintenance costs also considered.

Fun to see a nominal first stage rocket landing by SpaceX. Amazing to see it land. Don't enjoy them being in the stock market, NASA's only launch platform, launch too many satellites into LEO that impact ground astronomy, burn absurd amounts of fuel and leave waste in our atmosphere.

Found a respectable company with a well written job description that indicated a moderated and thoughtful use of gen-AI tools in the process of writing code. They do exist. Most of the other roles that indicate gen-AI as a requirement look toxic or otherwise unhealthy as an employer.

Reuters got some of the IPO docs. Anthropic is a total dog of a company. Spent $12.6bn to make $4.6bn in revenue in 2025, $7.33bn of which was compute costs. Operating loss of $8bn. Losses getting worse year over year. Amazing stuff www.reuters.com/business/fin...
Summary
Companies
• Anthropic IPO could value the company at more than $2
trillion
• Anthropic lost $42 billion in 2025
• Al lab spent $7.33 billion on compute and infrastructure last year
• Operating loss widened to $8.06 billion in 2025 from $2.98 billion in 2024
• Execs, industry analysts have expressed concerns over harms of Al tech
Sept 28 (Reuters) - Anthropic is making a massive bet that Al will transform the global economy more profoundly than industrialization, electricity and the internet, according to its IPO prospectus seen by Reuters.
But the cost to get there will be staggering. Anthropic reported a net loss of $42 billion in 2025, and plans to spend $518 billion on cloud, computing and infrastructure obligations in coming year, according to the
prospectus.

My internet provider is "upgrading" the lines all day. Even though narry a bucket truck is around. No matter, I have cell service and I can still work on my software side project since it doesn't require online services for source control, builds, etc. My home lab works fine without internet. 🤗

Replaced AutoMapper in a medium sized project today. Used multiple static mapping methods for my entities instead. Writing it was tedious and it is boilerplate. Still worth it. Now I know exactly what is going on. AutoMapper served its purpose in prototyping and saved time for that phase. #dotnet
