Chronic Sorrow vs. Clinical Depression 🧠 Society mislabels the "Chronic Sorrow" of disability as clinical depression. In therapy, we differentiate the two. One is a rational response to a shifting life; the other is a weight we can lift. Let’s honour the truth of your experience. 🤝 #DisabilityPride

Finding the Glimmers in the Fog ✨ Grief isn't a destination; it's a landscape. Integrative therapy helps you navigate the fog using somatic tools to settle the body and narrative tools to find "glimmers" of agency. You aren't "broken"; you are a complex story in transition. 🌊 #MentalHealth #CripTime

The Systemic Weight of Grief 🏛️ Disabled grief is often compounded by medical gaslighting. Therapy provides a "Sensory Sanctuary" where your anger is valid, and your fatigue is respected. We deconstruct the scripts that tell you to "get over it" and replace them with dignity. 🕯️ #NarrativeTherapy

Ambiguous Loss 🌫️ Chronic illness is a story of "ambiguous loss", grieving a body that is still here but changed. Therapy helps by naming the "Ghost of Capacity." When we externalise the grief, we can finally stop fighting ourselves and start witnessing the new chapters. 📖 #ChronicIllness #Grief

2/2 Many barriers disabled people face aren’t medical; they’re systemic. Inaccessible spaces. Rigid workplaces. Policies that fall short. Awareness alone isn’t enough. Real inclusion means changing the systems that force disabled people to carry the burden. #DisabilityJustice #Accessibility

1/2 Disability isn’t just a condition. It’s often a series of realities people are forced to live through. Forced isolation. Forced poverty. Forced stops in careers and plans. Forced life alterations. Not because of a lack of ambition, but because the world isn’t built with disabled people in mind

A Holistic Anthology 📚 Standard psychotherapy can feel like reading a book with missing pages. Integrative therapy mixing Narrative, Somatic, and Advocacy restores the archive. I analyse the "Why", and I honour the "How" of your survival across every level of your being. 🕯️ #TheAllegoryPractice

🌟 Disabled Voices Series – Finale! 🌟 I’m Aniqa, a bedbound therapist & disability advocate. I spoke with 30+ disabled people about the hardest parts of living with a disability. Their stories inspired me to launch a UK helpline. Grateful to amplify these voices! 💛

Externalising the Somatic 🌀 In Narrative Therapy, we externalise the "Freeze." In Somatic work, we feel it. Combining them allows us to name the trauma as an outside intruder while gently teaching the body that the danger has passed. It’s a dual authorship of mind and muscle. 🤝 #NarrativeTherapy

The Myth of the "Top-Down" Fix 🧠 You can’t always "think" your way out of complex trauma. Integrative care means working from the bottom up (Somatic) and the outside in (Narrative). We address the systemic gates and the bodily vibrations to ensure the whole story is finally heard. 🌊 #CPTSD #Therapy

Beyond the "Talking Cure" 🗣️ Traditional talk therapy often hits a ceiling with trauma. If the body is still stuck in "fight or flight," words aren't enough. We need Somatic work to settle the nervous system and Narrative work to reclaim the story. Healing is a full-body rewrite. 🖋️🧘 #Somatic

The Body Keeps the Script 📖 Trauma isn't just a memory; it’s a physical state. At The Allegory Practice, we use integrative approaches to listen to what the body is "saying" when words fail. We deconstruct the trauma's influence and use somatic glimmers to find a safer path home. ✨ #TraumaHealing

Collective Healing 🌊 Individualism is a Western script. True healing for many of us is communal. By elevating #DisabledVoices and POC narratives, we build a collective archive of resistance. Your story is a vital thread in a much larger tapestry of liberation. 🤝🏾 #CommunityCare #NarrativeTherapy

The Toll of Code-Switching 🎭 Code-switching is an exhausting "choreography" for survival. In this sanctuary, you can drop the performance. We create a "cosy corner" where your language, your rhythm, and your raw truth are the only requirements for entry. 🕯️ #InclusiveTherapy #Healing #Race

Crip Time as Defiance ⏳ Operating on Crip Time is a radical act of defiance against a capitalist clock. It’s a rhythm that respects capacity over productivity. As a disabled therapist, I don’t just "allow" this rhythm I lead with it. 🌊 #CripTime #Accessibility #DisabledTherapist

The Power of the Glimmer ✨ When the "big" story feels heavy, we look for the glimmers—the tiny moments of agency and resistance against a system that demands silence. These aren't just "distractions"; they are the subplots where your true strength lives. 🕯️ #TheAllegoryPractice #Neurodivergent

Reclaiming the Pen 🖋️ Medical gaslighting tries to steal your authorship, reducing your life to a list of symptoms. Narrative therapy is about reclaiming the pen. You are the lead author, and your lived experience is the most valid text in the room. 📖 #DisabledVoices #Therapy #LongCovid

The Myth of Linear Healing 📈 The "recovery" script is a trap. Healing with chronic illness isn't a straight line; it’s a map of peaks, valleys, and rest stops. In Narrative Therapy, we honour the "push and crash" as part of the story, not a failure. ✍️ #CripTime #Spoonie #MentalHealth

Investigating the Gate 🚪 In therapy, we’re taught to investigate the person. At The Allegory Practice, we investigate the gate. Those with disabilities struggle with inaccessible systems. Let’s stop fixing the person and start dismantling the barriers. 🛠️ #NarrativeTherapy #Disability

The Grief of the "Former Self" 🥀 Disability often begins with a profound, unacknowledged grief for the "old script." In Narrative Therapy, we don't rush to "positivity." We sit with the loss of the former self, honouring the wreckage before we even think about the rewrite. 🖋️ #Disability #Grief

1/2 Day 3: Presence Over Perfection Day 3 focused on practice: externalising problems, mapping stories, and finding unique outcomes. Energy was low, but accessibility made all the difference: camera-off when needed, breaks to hydrate, and pacing myself. Biggest lesson: don’t overthink the theory.
