It’s been several years since I went around Stanley park, so this was long overdue! When I was a kid, I used to do it on a bike. Cool to be able to do it on foot now. I normally feel spoiled that Seattle’s waterfront is my everyday run, but wow! Vancouver’s waterfront is gorgeous! #running #kimbia

It’s a bad look for Bsky if someone gets verified and can then change their display name to another person or brand and potentially damage their reputation while seeming legit because of the blue check. Domains are great for devs but normies probably wouldn’t look past ✅ in “instagram ✅ fake.com ”

I find it helpful to remember that easier guests are not representative samples of their population. Even more true at all inclusive resorts.

Asking is great! Highlighting what other apps/lexicons people are using on their profile would help discoverability a lot. Use the same PDS auth path as every other app. Showing content from other lexicons (music streams, X is live on Y, etc) in feeds/profiles of bsky app.

Yeah and if you already know html, css, and js/ts you’re most of the way there. I think vue is similar and also well loved. There are a lot of capable frontend libraries now, iMO pick the one you vibe with most. This site is a great way to quickly get a taste of each major option. Might help!

I love svelte, really straightforward and feels close to html, css, and js, with just the right amount of extras sprinkled in so they play nicely together.

Got a sweet treat while in Canada for VanJS, and may have found a new tagline for @nuxt.com at the same time 👀
A napkin that says “just when you thought your day couldn’t get any better” is folded to show the company logo: a large equilateral triangle, with a slightly smaller triangle in front of it covering part of the left of the first triangle. It looks a bit like two Rocky Mountains.

Do you find they work better than gummy bears?

I tend to use them for both focusable and not. Typically focusable: - button - nav/menu item (<a>) Typically not focusable: - input labels - non-input labels - chart annotations - table content (headings, cells, etc.)

If you ever find yourself in Seattle, Wayland Mill does a nice Japanese style American breakfast!

Yes, being able to style that way would be fantastic. Very in for less html and not needing to deal with positioning & accessibility work of rolling my own.

Really excited for vp! Does it support frameworks with custom syntax like svelte & vue, or if not is there an idea of when it will?

I love bobiverse! Heard good things about DCC, I assume you both recommend it if you’re still going?

Yeah so for example if I have error outputs from a test run or build I can pipe those into a TUI agent harness. Much nicer than trying to copy & paste it into a GUI

- fast - can pipe it to/from other CLIs - works over ssh - convenient if I’m always in the terminal For stuff I keep up all the time though for sure a gui is nice

That would be great, but it’s time/money/effort that isn’t a priority for most devs. At the end of the day we are using LLM-based tools to do work, not to measure how good the tools are. For someone not working on a model/harness/router/etc, it only makes sense to share anecdotal experience.

Didn’t deepmind use ML to basically solve protein folding? That seems like a very unambiguous biology win for ML.

Shopify also has a lot of excellent folks working on foundational frontend stuff. Honestly seems like a good place to end up.

Tailwind is convenient when you are writing styles by hand in an editor. It’s token efficient but worse for readability and static analysis, so I think overall loses to CSS when using agents now.

I could see rejecting a candidate for bringing alcoholic, but a coffee? What an inconsequential detail to focus on for such a big decision.

The persisted data drifts substantially over time though, you can’t trust it to match the values from its previous storage medium.

What gets me is these people could’ve simply not participated! All the trashing it and whatever was a choice, but so was ignoring it and letting the people who enjoy it have their fun. It’s kinda like the zoo/circus here though. All sorts of crazy to see that I wouldn’t otherwise.

I think typically when this happens it’s some big company or widely used tool improving/using caching.

The difference in response to AI between software devs and artists fascinates me. Art values a work's provenance, whereas software is usually valued by its usefulness. Artists see AI as lost commissions, vs devs are happy to send people with "million dollar" app ideas to build it with chatGPT.

Shockingly terrible! I find the model is great at well scoped problems. Looks like not so for creative design 😬

`item` as a singular makes me thing it's about a single item, so `item="6"` I would assume defaults to item 6. `items="6"` or `show="6"` feel clearer to me. I'd prefer to control it via CSS by setting list item and listbox sizes plus the overflow behavior.
110
Aaaaaallan Deutsch @allandeutsch.com · 24/09/2026
Default: show as many items as fit on screen, scroll to view the rest. appears at block end, swaps to block start if all items don't fit at block end and there's more space at block start. Custom: selectors for targeting the listbox and its items with pseudos (hover, active, etc.). item => items

I'm really curious what screenshots look like to LLMs. We disagree often enough about what alignment and gaps look like that I'm starting to wonder if they're seeing the same thing I am.

- UI density is really low. Would be nice to have relaxed/compact toggle on-page I like: - quick access to PRs and issues is a huge improvement - moving feed to its own page 🙏🙏🙏 - GitHub changelog. Please move it to a tab under “feed” though I’d prefer dedicated org links to account switcher.

Aaaaaallan Deutsch @allandeutsch.com · 23/09/2026
Overall big improvement. Some flaws: - the “view all” links for PRs & issues are totally different views, in my case neither includes the items from the dashboard - would prefer “view all (N items)” that expands inline vs open a page - top repos default to open; currently leaves sidebar 1/2 empty

Okay tried prime agent for a few days, and it seems to consume dramatically more tokens than open code while producing worse outputs. Maybe I'm just using it wrong, but I thought it was supposed to use less tokens and do a better job; I've seen neither benefit.
