Lately I've been exploring a region of Fluoddity parameter space with some pretty extreme properties: Very low diffusion and extremely high decay. The trail-map has almost zero memory so the system state is ~entirely held by particle positions/orientations

Ok, I did the experiment of going back to a lineage that I had already hunted out and I'm more persuaded that the mutation fix is having an impact.

This new "fibrous" lineage is just a super rich vein. I should try doing some searching on an older "played out" lineage. If I find new cool stuff there, that would be a stronger signal that the broken mutation was hampering me

It's certainly possible! @ponder.ooo had a similar observation the other day. But basically everything I've been posting lately has come from a single lineage that's proven to be incredibly diverse and full of interesting stuff. Hard to tell whether the fix has made my search more fruitful or if...

It's really hard to tell, tbh. It kind of feels like I can explore farther with a sequence of mutations but the placebo effect is a hell of a drug.🤷 Also, the fix didn't open any new _destinations_ only new _paths_. Everything was already reachable, just not from arbitrary starting points.

There were a couple Fluoddities I found last night that added a really cool vascular look to my hands but they didn't really record well because everything had to be just-so or the effect would break

Not really. They're just less cohesive than my usual fare. In most Fluoddities I post the particles are all sticking together, forming larger scale structures. Here they're all just kind of doing their own thing
