If he can go four more hours he will beat Strom Thurmond’s record. Thurmond used his filibuster to try and prevent the Civil Rights Act of 1957.

Not suprised but bummed. Odom has done a great job and helped reenergize the VCU base after the pandemic. What would it take to keep a great coach here at least a decade? www.pilotonline.com/2025/03/21/u...

Listening to @mcclellan.house.gov’s tele-call and it is heartbreaking that a caller expressed concern the Emancipation Proclamation could be overturned. Which she says “no that can’t happen” and also she is going to “fight like hell to make sure we don’t go back to Jim Crow.”

VCU vs. Dayton was a fun game to watch. What the heck is wrong with ads on ESPN+ app though? They switch/repeat at the 6 sec mark, with no commercial completely airing. It’s like nails on a chalkboard.

Sometimes I’m still shocked that Al Gore talking about climate change in 2000 set up so many deep, future divisions. Was it the first widespread public rejection of scientific data on climate change? Feels like it. I guess also why so few candidates talk about climate change now.

“Mr. Carr could drastically reshape the independent agency, expanding its mandate and wielding it as a political weapon for the right.” Not that the commission has a lot of regulatory teeth to chew on some of their proposals but they do have a big bark to pressure companies.

Are there journalism collectives? Where we’re not doing it for a brand or a boss but for the public and as a group — perhaps even published under the collective name to avoid what could become a crackdown on independent journalists.

Boar’s Head is one of the country’s most recognizable deli-meat brands. The two intensely secretive families that own it — the Brunckhorsts and the Bischoffs — have remained silent as the company faces the biggest scandal in its history.
