I knew I had something for this, just did some archaeology on my computer let me tell you.

Two pictures of the character Gyro Gearloose, one from Ducktales (1987) and Ducktales (2017). A tumblr post by the user "mallowhoney" is superimposed over it, with text reading "you either die a cinnamon roll or live long enough to become a problematic fave".

I feel like it had a complete narrative arc and ended in a good place... But also The Mouse is what it is, you know. The scuttlebutt was that they were just increasingly hostile to both traditional animation and TV shows.
