Principal @tvparrot.bsky.social observed that a fighter sees themselves in another fighter. For that reason, Teresa wrote a piece for @insidehighered.com about meeting someone she admires and the need for all in #highered to continue the fight for our industry. www.insidehighered.com/opinion/blog...
A purple graphic says:
"Fighting on behalf of higher education isn’t a one-size-fits-all endeavor. I would encourage, as Simmons notes, that this can include addressing mistruths, defending those who are being treated unfairly and speaking out when the moment demands it. I believe that fighting for higher education means that we each defend the academy within our spheres of influence in big and small ways."

The strain from the administration’s slashing of #highered is causing institutions to implement cuts, institute freezes, and consider layoffs. The @wsj.com @sararandazzo.bsky.social interviewed @erinahennessy.bsky.social, who suggested prioritizing the academic core when considering fiscal cuts.
A graphic says:
“Institutions will do what they can ‘to protect the academic core as long as possible,’ said Erin Hennessy, an executive vice president at TVP Communications, a higher-education communications firm. That means going after easier cuts first, she said, such as not filling vacant positions, deferring building projects and consolidating departments, before touching the faculty.”
