My city's local writer's community Facebook group pops up on my timeline with a post. It's from a member advertising her new epic fantasy book. Cover is AI. Book's title is something like Chloe's Fate. The author's name is Chloe. Cover shows a character who looks just like the author. Sigh.

I've a special place of loathing in my heart for late-2000s era Hidden Object PC games. These things littered places that sold games and always LOOKED like fun Sierra-like point-and-click adventures (no doubt because Jane Jensen worked heavily on them) until you discovered they're anything but that!

So last week I tried to pick out some films for us to watch - The Death of Robin Hood, Predator: Badlands, and Mother of Flies. And all three were complete and utter shite. So instead, last night we watched a real total fucking classic; Tales from the Crypt: Bordello of Blood. Such an improvement!

I honestly feel, as I grow older, that gaming hobby stores are just not for me. It's always just depressing to see the games I like relegated to half a shelf at the back, and if your game isn't warhammer or magic/pokemon the store itself just doesn't want to know.

The thing is, I know it's very Camp Miasma of me, but I like art of characters that emphasises femininity like that. It makes me feel confident, strong and empowered. Changing it like this makes me feel like this is attributing shame.

So, not so much of a secret, but I've been drawing some of my raven OC as members of various Werewolf: the Apocalypse tribes for the last few months. I'll be uploading them starting this Friday, but I got to tell you, drawing her as a half raven/wolf mix is fuckin weird.

Okay, so until this April, I ran a TTRPG club. A lot of industry folks don't believe me when I speak about the harm that performative D&D and actual plays do for new players entering the hobby. But I'd see it at every session. So. Let me tell you about Lisa.

Visit a game shop or club and you only ever see Beginner Intro to D&D sessions advertised. No experienced. No veteran nights. This is telling. New people to the game are not sticking around. Upon finding out it isn't a video game or performative actual play, they drop. This isn't sustainable.

So I've been watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood... and I'm really not liking it. At all. I'm about 18 episodes in and sorely losing interest. Thing is, I just LOVED the original when it first came out. But this one just seems so hollow and tedious... Is it because I'm 20 years older?

People will tell me I'm 'gatekeeping' (because I get accused of that all the fucking time) but these people needed to be kicked out of the card gaming community so hard that their heads spun, and it's long past time that they were forcibly ejected. Hobbies are safe spaces and need to be protected!
