Either there's a lot less full computer drawn work this season or I'm missing them. Whichever, a good trend.

considering manga artist spends a lot of panels depicting the hero as a drooling stick figure with a propensity for throwing his clothes off I've no doubt this will deviate. He really loved his villains though. will check out SW bcs need some laughs.

also enjoy Sasaki & Peeps but haven't read that far as where season 2 is heading was it always more of a fucked up teen girl show more than Magical Girl Raising Project?

Marrioner art was a bit jarring, though being trad animation got used to it quick. Feels very nostalgic rather than interesting. conversely forgot Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Magician manga artist DGAF about art if he can make a gag & animation really making up for it. Might be 7th Prince level fun.

-	The expenditure of at least 1.8 million olu in the casting of look backwards as a 15th-stage spell. The target date of the spell should be the first date of the first month of the year 13,799,999,998.
-	The expenditure of at least 1.75 million olu in the casting of superior scrying as a 15th-stage spell. The target specified during the casting of the spell should be the magical effect of a deity of the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd rank, the effect being that caused by a weakening of the bonds of flesh spell as cast as a 15th-stage spell.
-	The expenditure of at least 1.88 million olu in the casting of greatest true sight as a 15th-stage spell.

What you will see will be the perfect forms of certain entities. But what you will see will be so much more than that. You will see not just the perfect forms of those entities, but the perfect form of reality itself! This universe—all universes—were made by gods, who, as we all know, are limited and mortal insofar as they can die under the right circumstances. But by performing the ritual and casting the spells listed above, you can pierce through the veils surrounding this universe and see the pure reality—the perfect form—behind it.

We can all become as gods! It only remains for everyone to have the courage to do so.

I mentioned the other day that for the Mesopotamian rpg I was writing up Plato's Allegory of the Cave (from REPUBLIC) as if it had been written by the Iron Age predecessor of Lovecrafts' Abd al-Hazred. I did. Here it is, in a four-part post. Notes: Rúgúzid is the Iron Age al-Hazred;
2282. Near the end of this year, Rugúzid finished what he believed would be his last and greatest work. He had spent the previous fourteen months in deep thought, usually writing only a sentence or two every day and always following up by double- and triple-checking everything in the sentence or sentences, including the placement and appropriateness of the punctuation marks. When he had at last completed the essay and was satisfied that it said everything it needed to say as clearly as possible and in just the right words, he leaves his apartment, walks across Babilim to the headquarters of the Nam Abgal, and orders the scribes working there to make copies of the essay—dozens of them, on papyrus and linen scrolls, on clay and stone tablets, on wax writing boards, on moving stone tablets, and on every other material and item which the other Nam Abgal members preferred to read from. When the scribes have finished, Rugúzid paid the Nam Abgal couriers to bring one copy of the essay to each member of the Nam Abgal with haste, no matter how far away their homes were.
What he had written bore the title On Shadows, Forms, and Perfect Forms. For a few years, it was the most powerful thing Rugúzid had ever written. It had the effect of a thunderbolt, or shower of thunderbolts, on the members of the Nam Abgal, who were variously nonplussed, disconcerted, amazed, bewildered, or deeply, deeply impressed—but none doubted the truth of what he had written.
The most important passage of On Shadows was the
following:

Imagine a group of mortals—humans and other intelligent folk, like anthrōpotauroi and kéntauroi and brazen folk—living in an underground cave-like dwelling, with an entrance a long way up, which is both open to the light and as wide as the cave itself. They’ve been there since childhood, fixed in the same place, with their necks and legs fettered, able to see only in front of them, because their bonds prevent them from turning their heads around. Light is provided by a fire burning far above and behind them. Also behind them, but on higher ground, there is a path stretching between them and the fire. Imagine that along this path a low wall has been built, like the screen in front of puppeteers above which they show their puppets.

Then also imagine that there are some other group of mortals along the wall, carrying all kinds of artifacts that project above it—statues of various intelligent folk and of various animals, made of stone, wood, iron, and every other material. And, as you’d expect, some of the carriers are talking, and some are silent.

Would the prisoners see anything of themselves and each other besides the shadows that the fire casts on the wall in front of them?
No, they couldn’t—their heads are motionless because of their bonds. Likewise with the things being carried along the wall.

If they could talk to each other, they would all believe that the words they use to name the shadows were correctly applied to those shadows. And if the cave had echoes from the wall in front of the prisoners, the prisoners would believe that it was the shadows passing in front of them that were talking.

In all, the prisoners would believe that the shadows they were seeing were the entirety of those beings—that the truth lay in those shadows.

Now, imagine how the prisoners would feel if they were rescued, released from their bonds and cured of their ignorance by being shown the figures and things casting the shadows. When one of the prisoners was suddenly rescued and stood up, walked forward, and turned his head so that he could see the source of the light—his reaction to seeing the things whose shadows he’d previously been seeing would not be relief. He would be dazzled, yes, but also dizzied, discomforted, unstable, uncertain, and painfully vulnerable.

What do you think that prisoner would say if they were told that everything they’d seen while bound and fettered, all of the shadows that he believed were the reality, were all
inconsequential? What would the prisoner feel, what would they say, if they were told that they saw only falsities before, but now they are seeing correctly—now they are seeing the truth? If we pointed in the direction of each of the figures passing by and asked the prisoner what each of them were, and to name each of them, what would the prisoner say?

The prisoner would be puzzled and disoriented and at a loss and would eventually say that the shadows they had spent their life seeing were the truth and the reality, and the figures passing by were just lies and illusions. And if the prisoner were made to look at the firelight itself, its light would hurt their eyes, and they would flee from those who freed them and run toward the shadows, believing that they are the truth and that they will save them.

And if the prisoner were grabbed by their rescuers and dragged out of the cave, up the rough, stone path and into the open air and the sunlight, how would the prisoner react? They would be angry at having been grabbed and dragged against their will, they would be nearly blinded by the light of the sun, they would be dizzied by the wind and the many new smells they were experiencing—and they would not be able to recognize that everything they were seeing and experiencing were real and true.

After some time, the former prisoner would still see shadows, but they would have adjusted to their new circumstances

It's the Lakes International Comic Art Festival this weekend! I will be there with comics, art, sketches and my new self-published FEZ PAPERS, which collects my old Fez strips, most of them in full colour for the first time.
Cover to "The Fez Papers", showing The Fez (an ambulatory empty suit wearing a fez and a monocle) holding a flaming torch. Behind him a huge, toad-like monster with horns is lurking menacingly.

That translation makes me wonder if it's somehow been conflated from the position of nurse. Priestesses, nurses and prostitutes often bearing not too disimilar roles in ancient life, before they split off into specialized jobs.

GO FOR IT, NAKAMURA-KUN! stands out for being a rare comedy about a shy gay highschooler trying to work up the courage to confess to his crush. The art is so like Ranma surprised the manga came out in 2014. It seems sweet.
