A random visit to Moldova as it was one of only 3 countries I'd not visited in Europe. We'd expected brutalist Soviet architecture but Chisinau was unexpectedly pretty.

Frank has this morning completed the Northern Loop of The Shropshire Way (75 miles) in 23hrs 45m. Unsupported. A new Fastest Known Time for the route! Note difficult to tell which is before photo and which the after. Closer up one is the after!

Good to see @ultradamo.bsky.social at Shrewsbury last night on the last night of his speaking tour. The last and best (as he got the news of Arsenal winning the league). Also Frank and I helped with book sales afterwards. I hugely recommend this book whatever your age. It's brill!

Northallerton hospital. Not the next checkpoint we wanted. Frank's lower leg started hurting at Shap (60 miles). He continued to Kirkby Stephen (79 miles) but couldn't put weight on it. The UTC at Northallerton is brilliant. No wait & a quick Xray showed no obvious break. Just got to rest. Dammit.

Holyhead Mountain trig #4/21. A lesson learned- if we've an hour for the car park it's best that estimating distance isn't up to me. As we climbed, the heavens opened & the wind howled. Trig gained, we'd 20 mins to make it back so a mad dash ensued - perhaps not the best prep for Frank's race!

Whilst Frank is running The Ring of Fire, (and in between crewing for him), I have a plan to visit all 21 Ynys Mon (Anglesey) Trig points. Grabbed #1 on the way to our Holyhead base - very difficult to find as it was hidden in a hedge and all the more satisfying for it. Cefn-Cwmmwd.

On the way up to Kirk Yetholm to give a hand at the finish of the @spinerace.bsky.social , I wondered whether I might bag an easy trig (not having time to do The Cheviot ones!). I found this one, just over the Scottish border - called Dolphinston Trig. (Scottishly surrounded by thistles). Perfect!

I'm astonished people buy McD's in Shrewsbury & drive 15 miles to the Long Mynd to discard it. That's been my guess as it's nearest. However this lot left receipts. They got their food in Bristol Rd McD's Birmingham 20.44 last night before driving 60 miles to the Long Mynd & leaving it on the hill.
