something for the first day of #morktober - the prompt was GOAT!
Who staggers alongside you?
(A d20 table for animal companions)

1: A rotten little frog.
2: A horrible goat
3: An evil-smelling horse who won’t be ridden.
4: A swarm of two hundred wasps. They live in a miniature hive hanging from your belt. As likely to sting you as they are your enemies.
5: A starved rat. Insensate to pain or fear. Teeth the size of a baby’s finger.
6: An adder, five feet long. Its skin has never fully shed and dry layers of old scales have piled up on its back. It curls itself around your neck and squeezes tight when there is danger.
7: A scabbed squirrel, fur as grey as the sea. Red eyes, yellow teeth. A shivering little thing: it’s scared of a stiff breeze, and when it’s scared, it bites.
8: A grouse with tattered wings.
9: A wolf with stinking breath. When you look into its eyes you know it has eaten human flesh.
10: A salmon. Corrosive slime bubbles up like spit from its skin: touching it causes hallucinations of your bleakest memory.
11: A basking shark. Appears whenever you are looking at the horizon of the sea and longing to be elsewhere; a taunting symbol of freedom. You will never be close to it.
12: A wildcat, feral and cruel.
13: A pine marten. Intelligent in a way a pine marten should not be. Eyes that gleam a little too intently.
14: A fox, its white paws drenched in blood that will never wash off. Leaves tracks of wet and crusting blood wherever it walks.
15: The animated corpse of a dormouse. Bones stick through threadbare flesh; scraps of fur cling to the white skull.
16: A woodlouse. Nestles into the softest part of your skin. It longs to reproduce.
17: A stag that haunts your steps. Your silhouette will always have antlers.
18: A hare with two broken legs. It staggers on.
19: A seal. Alive, and yet it seems to be already rotting. Appears in every river you cross.
20: A barn owl. Screeches the same as your nightmares.

I keep trying to get copilot to stop appearing on my word documents, but it keeps coming back, and I am currently writing a very psychosexually strange sci-fi novella and I kept accidentally hovering over the copilot button and it asks me "would you like to make this clearer and more professional?"

I take an anti-AI stance for many reasons, including that I just literally have 0 use-cases for it in my life, but one of its more egregious impacts on my life is that the spell-check in Word is NOTICEABLY worse after they integrated Copilot, and just hallucinates errors where there are none

putting this question into the void, just in case anyone who follows me has an answer: I did a fairly extensive writing test for a games company, and it would be useful to put in my portfolio. I contacted them about whether this would be okay, and never heard back - is it acceptable to just use it??
