this is important because you can take advantage of it. you might not want to SEE a layer in certain moments, but you do want to manipulate its (temporarily invisible) fill color so when it IS visible later, the color is correct

did u know that when u have multiple layers selected in figma, the "all selected colors" section (one of my favs, massively useful) will only display values from non-hidden layers. but.... a non-hidden layer can be set to 0% opacity and its color values will still show up in that section :)

i just finished reading Abdunance by Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson and this exact example was mentioned! another great example from that book was mRNA. Hungarian-American scientist Katalin Karikó was big on mRNA decades before project warp speed used it for covid vaccines
