Worth noting that they did find that they help with people who have respiratory issues (e.g. asthma, allergies) in some studies. I have asthma and while I don't usually use the nasal strips, I did once when I had a cold for a race. I did definitely make it easier for me to breathe.

Canada too. We focus on how the holocaust impacted Jewish folks (and a bit on Roma, LGTBQ+) but not so much on disabled people because might be a bit awkward to teach that we were the heroes of WW2 while say, the Alberta Eugenics Board continued to operate until the 70s.

yeah... seeing prohibition/war on drugs type arguments for alcohol is odd (did people read the article lol). A problem is many view addiction as a moral failure and not a result of biology and social reality. Woo woo/religion (AA) and "cut off access" don't fix those.

not really, might want to look up social determinants of health and systemic bias in healthcare being LGTBQ+ or a POC does not inherently make one higher risk, but it does mean one is more likely to be lower SES and be treated worse in healthcare/avoid it at all costs

TV show: "anatomy research used to be based on dissecting convicted murderers!" used to be is doing a lot of work there, a lot of research is still done by dissecting human bodies, and one of the donors I had was actually a prisoner who died of lethal injection the big difference now is consent

Yeah, a lot of the anti-bike lane noise come from suburbs commuters. I had a car when I lived in Plateau but reserved it for transporting heavy stuff or leaving the island mostly. Nobody I worked with commuted by car regularly.

Yeah, my hometown is going through this right now. The company involved is making a lot of claims that seem dubious/poorly thought out to me (air cooling, lol). I am not against AI per se, but it's consumer/general public gen AI that's driving this, much of which is of debatable merit or benefit.
