We can disagree on public policy. "How do we pay for the school renovation?" is a policy issue. "Do trans kids have the same rights as everyone else?" is not. Trans rights are human rights, and human rights can't be up for debate just to appease the unappeasable.

Fun fact: A book club probably isn't going to ask you if you're interested in being one of their picks. I've gotten several AI invites from obvious frauds asking me if I'd like to be selected. They don't disclose, but are detectable with a question: "What did you have in mind?"

Tie-ins worked out in my favor, because the follow-on video game work I got was much more lucrative. The total value of my games contracts outweighed decent advances on trilogies from major publishers. Do not bet on this happening. It was luck and the support of the kindest fandom.

Because it can. Because they figured out it's a cost we will "tolerate." Bad teeth will stop your heart. Tooth health is heart health. Some people only find out they have life-threatening cancers at the optometrist. Eye health is life.

In the end, we had to pay out of pocket to a kind soul who veered out of his dental lane to help us. Another dentist volunteered to attempt the procedure, despite not having specific training, just to mend his breaking heart.

I don't know why this happened. I'm guessing that something something private equity, but honestly, I don't give a fuck. This is enraging. My son suffered for months while I BEGGED doctors to take us for an abscessed tooth. He was in pain every day, crying and confused why we couldn't help him.

Our local hospital system, @wellstarhealth.bsky.social, has decided to discontinue dental services within its hospital system. As a result, one of the only special needs dentists in the greater Atlanta metro area had to cancel all appointments. It took us a year to get that appointment.
