Step 6: Exported the finished head into Substance Painter and hand painted the whole thing. And that's it for the head. Next up, the body!

Step 5: Fixed up the UVs to make them less horrific and prepared the model for painting. Also figured out how I wanted to do the stylized hair, and spent a very long time modelling that in (I have a strict no hair grooms policy for this project).

Step 4: Made a few final tweaks to the face shape, added in eyes, brows, and lashes, and blocked in the hair shapes (this all took several hours).

Step 3: Imported the scan into Maya, made the mesh symmetrical, tweaked it for added appeal, then started on retopologizing it. Brought in the original drawing for reference, and in time I had myself the first pass of a fully modelled head.

Step 2: Sculpt a physical maquette of the head to use as a base (love me some tangible arts) and then create a scan of it using a free lidar app. And while the scan turned out kinda lumpy, and my sculpting skills still need work, this was more than good enough to start with.

First real match: Made it to the elevator, but got clipped outside when the doors closed. Spent the next few minutes getting shot to shit by robots, and then, crawling on my hands and knees, extracted on the next elevator with literally one second to spare. So yeah, it's a pretty cool game.

I've had Drew Struzan's artwork hanging on my wall for almost as long as I can remember. To me (and many), his work embodied the very spirit of movies, and even though he's been retired for some time now, cinema itself is that much lesser without him. RIP to a true art legend.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is one if the finest jrpgs I think I’ve ever played. Mechanically it’s a step up from the last one in nearly every way, and even after sinking 80 hours into it and exhausting most of the side content, I still didn’t want to put it down.
