ASL interpreters who work in the arts (concerts, opera, theatre, etc) deserve to be valued as artists too. it takes so much skill to be this good at capturing the FEEL of music beyond just translating the meaning of the text and it’s an invaluable accessibility service

Detention centers shouldn't be privatized! "The more detainees, the more money they (detention centers) make. It stands to reason that these companies have no incentive to release people quickly."

Tal Mitnick: my father received the best medical care in the world but still passed from cancer. Then I learned Fatima, a 1 yr old Gaza baby, died of curable illness due to being denied access to healthcare. I realized how privileged we are despite our horrible loss. @ijvcanada.bsky.social

Einat Gerlitz: We grew up close to N Gaza. When we heard bombs, there would be sirens and we would run to shelter. One day the house shook w/bombs but no sirens wailed. I asked grandma why. Grandma said there are no sirens or shelter for bombs landing in Gaza. I wondered about ppl on other side.

Since we're boycotting American products, can we also forgo American concerts & support Canadian artists? I like Taylor Swift but it makes me dizzy to think how much money she made in Canada that could've otherwise stayed in our economy and gone to our own artists.
