Of course not! As long as you provide evidence/indications, this is very useful information. Although, to be honest, I did this once (refusing to review the paper), and my experience was that a few weeks later the journal sent me again the exact same paper 😂

If generative AI tools generate inappropriate language, plagiarized content, biased content, errors, mistakes, incorrect references, or misleading content, and that output is included in scientific works, it is the responsibility of the author(s). 2/

We have recently clarified our penalties for this. If a submission contains incontrovertible evidence that the authors did not check the results of LLM generation, this means we can't trust anything in the paper. 3/

The penalty is a 1-year ban from arXiv followed by the requirement that subsequent arXiv submissions must first be accepted at a reputable peer-reviewed venue. 4/

Examples of incontrovertible evidence: hallucinated references, meta-comments from the LLM ("here is a 200 word summary; would you like me to make any changes?"; "the data in this table is illustrative, fill it in with the real numbers from your experiments") end/"

I also have to say that, while simple, this paper is the result of enormous effort. We pushed characterization software to the limit, and develop new tools based on quantum testers to get to the result. I'm super happy about this result, and proud of having worked in such an amazing team. 8/n, n=8

While tiny, this region is crucial. It has been believed for years that quantum nonlocality was impossible in the triangle network with binary-valued outcomes and no inputs. And now we know this is not true! Moreover, the constructions give nice insights on how network nonlocality arises. 7/n

In the end, we find realizations for all visibilities below 0.6245. In parallel, we prove that for all visibilities above 0.6221 the noisy W distribution is nonlocal. So we have this tiny region where it is, both, quantumly realizable and nonlocal! 6/n

To look for this realization, we use quantum testers, that are objects that encompass the union of a quantum state and a measurement device. They originate in the field of higher order quantum theory, and we use them to do efficient, stable optimization loops. 5/n

In particular, within this construction we look for realizations of mixtures of the W distribution (where the only events with nonzero -and uniform- probability are those in which only one of the parties output 1) with white noise. 4/n

Alex Pozas-Kerstjens @alexpozas.com · 05/05/2026
Why is it the simplest? Because we just need one source that distributes (two-qubit) entangled states. The other sources distribute classical shared randomness! And, because of this, the parties need to perform (at most) single-qubit measurements. 3/n

Alex Pozas-Kerstjens @alexpozas.com · 05/05/2026
Why is it the smallest? Because it is a just tripartite distribution over binary outcomes, for which we find a realization in the so-called triangle network. If you take a party, a source, or an outcome out, then you end up in a situation where you can always find a local hidden variable model. 2/n

Well, of course it's an urban legend. But 1) this is the risk with methods that rely on computational assumptions, and 2) I wouldn't be surprised to know that, even if not being able to break the protocol in generality, if they *really really* wanted to decrypt *one* particular message they could.

I also wonder a lot about this. Physical security is nicer than computational security IMO, but we know that the implementations can be hacked anyway. But also, I've heard a few times the "the US is pushing towards PQC because they know how to break it" argument 😝.

A little task to get your brain going today: Prove the statement in the picture!
A mathematical statement involving operator inequalities and tensor products.
Statement in LaTeX:
Let $X,Y$ be operators on a finite-dimensional Hilbert space. If $0\leq X \leq Y$, then $X^{\otimes n} \leq Y^{\otimes n}$ for all $n\in\mathbb{N}$.
