drajjon (Alexis) @alexisjanson.com · 30/09/2026these sound like some fun ways to shape the experience. It's very different from what I'd call a "pod" normally but the continuity is still there and I like how it's designed for the player to try and identify their "final boss", like a little bit of social deduction almost. 010
drajjon (Alexis) @alexisjanson.com · 30/09/2026Yup- Galaxy’s async design means there’s no “dead queue” problem- wanna play at 2am? You have opponents! 031
drajjon (Alexis) @alexisjanson.com · 30/09/2026…grow naturally from any residual effects (“every turn your stuff gets bigger”) which helps a bit too. We considered “bot” behavior after running out of boards but it hasn’t been worth the effort yet. 110
drajjon (Alexis) @alexisjanson.com · 30/09/2026The ghosts fight each other, like in a normal 6-person pod (or, if there’s odd players, one fights a clone of your board) This means 95%+ of “dead” boards flush out quickly and the player only sees a couple boards here and there that are noticeably behind. When out of “turns” the boards also… 110

Reposted by drajjon (Alexis)Max Nichols @maxnichols.bsky.social · 25/08/2026People often look back fondly on how "wild and free" games were in, say, the PS1 and PS2 era. Every game felt like something new. There are a bunch of reasons for this, but a big one was that you were much more likely to play a game that asked you to learn wildly new paradigms and control schemes 1172

drajjon (Alexis) @alexisjanson.com · 29/09/2026In addition to the hexagons, three other props communicated wirelessly. The entire room ran autonomously- progress gated by physical and digital locks. drajjon (Alexis) @alexisjanson.com · 25/09/2026NES metroid and zelda both had a relatively “figure out your own path” approach. Many later metroids had minimal sequence breaking- i remember multiple gameboy titles (fusion?) being almost impossible to break. I don’t think “sequence breaking” is a significant distinguishing factor conceptually. 100
