Actual video footage: Right now I ripped the movie off from the laptop's DVD drive...

Alexis Jhon (AGR/AMKPBA)🇺🇦 @alexisgaming95.neocities.org · 16/10/2026

Any #DVD experts here? I recently bought a DVD of the Ali G Show Movie and somehow it didn't work on my desktop DVD drive (Panasonic Matsushita SW830 DVD-RAM drive), only detecting it blank. But somehow it worked on my sister's laptop (which is a slimline). Is this a laser problem?

Also... yes, apparently #VCDs were that popular in the #Philippines back then. I'm curious, how much are these things cost vs #DVDs to our titos and titas out there? (the legit ones, not pirated coz I know they cost like 50 pesos)

YET IN MPC-HC IT WORKED. Somehow I forgot I got another media player capable of playing these discs installed on my desktop. And yes I partly blame my own laziness by going for the AI overview 😓... #tech #technology #movies #media

So I cleaned with a gel toothpaste (later found out I should've bought regular white toothpaste), cleaned the VCD up with a damp cloth (in a circular motion which is a no-no after reading AFTER cleaning) and it still didn't work.

#TechStoryTime: I just bought two Video CDs from an online shop recently. Johnny English and Bruce Almighty are the ones I ordered. The package arrived, and they have some quirks in their packaging (Johnny English was loose, Bruce Almighty suffered a hinge problem™).

It's because they genuinely spent that time looking for something to innovate. Something that can at least spice things up. The efficiency economy sucked hard, and my principle has been not to make an IPO, stockholders are a bitch to please.

There's a reason why it takes so long before Nintendo enters the new generation. There's a reason why the jump between Wi-Fi 4 and Wi-Fi 5 was a long gap vs. 5 to 6. There's a reason why Windows releases back then are on a 3 year basis.

They're crying Steam is the monopoly that it is, while in reality they could just... do better. It's just that easy. Build a quality product at a realistic pace and see how people would naturally gravitate towards your product.

Alexis Jhon (AGR/AMKPBA)🇺🇦 @alexisgaming95.neocities.org · 11/10/2026

#Rant: I hate the notion of "we should build everything fast to the point of ruining quality." Efficiency is good and all, but if you are just focused on rushing something out the door fast, for the pursuit of profits, then I don't think people would like that.

If you just left the AI decompile to its heart's content, what would we learn out of the decomp's source code? You know that it's notorious for their horrible code quality, wink wink...

Alexis Jhon (AGR/AMKPBA)🇺🇦 @alexisgaming95.neocities.org · 11/10/2026

I guess it's cool that this game is finally playable on PC, but most if not all decomp projects stem from the fact THEY WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE GAME BY UNDERSTANDING THE CODE ITSELF not just porting it to new platforms, that I believe is just the byproduct.

Alexis Jhon (AGR/AMKPBA)🇺🇦 @alexisgaming95.neocities.org · 11/10/2026

Also.... grinds me gears how fast AI decompilation projects are now releasing left-right-center. Good luck maintaining the source code I guess.

Further update: I tested them, they both worked fine, but I think the DVD-R ran quite slower and reads a lot more than DVD+R when trying to install it on VirtualBox.
