As always, relevant Sad Gay Communist Game quote.
Quote from Joyce Messier reading: "I can't. That's how simple it is. One may dye their hair green and wear their grandma's coat all they want. Capital has the ability to subsume all critiques into itself. Even those who would critique capital end up reinforcing it instead..."

Text from DE that reads:
Mazovian theory and practice. But mostly you'll probably complain about other communists.

You - isn't that last part kind of kind of productive?

Rhetoric - not at all. Complaining about other Communists is one of the most important parts of being a communist

Sure it's a solvable problem, it's just that there's a lot of steps between here and an ideal goal that MUST be taken that a lot of gun control advocates I think don't realize must happen. A lot of people's solutions boil down to this image.
Tumblr post that reads:

"Everyone will not just

If your solution to some problem relies on "If everyone would just..." Then you do not have a solution. Everyone is not going to just. At not (sic) time in the history of the universe has everyone just, and they're not going to start now."

I looked that up and...yikes. although to their credit, they did do a follow-up episode years later where they were like "yeah we fucked up"
The episode is notorious as an allegory for climate change denial because the South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone were initially unconvinced about Gore's film An Inconvenient Truth. Gore and ManBearPig returned in the sixth and seventh episodes of the 22nd season of South Park, "Time to Get Cereal" and "Nobody Got Cereal?", in which the boys realize that ManBearPig exists and apologize to Gore. ManBearPig returned in the 2022 films South Park The Streaming Wars and South Park The Streaming Wars Part 2, which reveals that ManBearPig has a family.

Same! 🤣 I donated directly to the foundation because I wasn't interested in the bundle. I made it a point to earmark my money for UAVs just because of this post.
Thank you note from the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation for a donation to fund their war effort.

Reminds me of this story I heard, which I hope is true.
Screen grab from somewhere of a post from a Roman Sharkov that reads:

Downloaded a virus for Linux lately and unpacked it.
Tried to run it as root, didn't work. Googled for 2 hours, found out that instead of /usr/local/bin the virus unpacked to /usr/bin for which the user malware doesn't have any write permissions, therefore the virus couldn't create a process file.
Found patched.configure and make files on some Chinese forum, recompiled and rerun it.
The virus said it needs the library cmalw-lib-2.0. Turns out cmalw-lib-2.0 is shipped with CentOS but not with Ubuntu. Googled for hours again and found an instruction to build a. deb package from source.
The virus finally started, wrote some logs, made a core dump and crashed. After 1 hour of going through the logs I discovered the virus assumed it was running on ext4 and called into its disk encryption API. Under btrfs this API is deprecated. The kernel noticed and made this partition read-only.
Opened the sources, grep'ed the Bitcoin wallet and sent $5 out of pity.

Over the line came a lot of praise, but also some suggested tweaks, first said veteran Democratic numbers man Geoff Grain, summarizing their analysis, stop saying, "we're not going back." It wasn't focused enough on the future, he argued. Second, lay off all the 'weird' talk -- too negative.

For example from the book Dawn of Everything, an interview with Kandiaronk, Chief of the Native American Wendat in the 17th century when asked about European society. Relevant Wikipedia article (that cites this as well) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kondiar...
Screenshot from the book Dawn of Everything that reads:

"Kandiaronk: I have spent six years reflecting on the state
of European society and I still can't think of a single way they act that's not inhuman, and I genuinely think this can only be the case, as long as you stick to your distinctions of 'mine' and 'thine'. I affirm that what you call money is the devil of devils; the tyrant of the French, the source of all evils; the bane of souls and slaughterhouse of the living. To imagine one can live in the country of money and preserve one's soul is like imagining one could preserve one's life at the bottom of a lake. Money is the father of luxury, lascivi-ousness, intrigues, trickery, lies, betrayal, insincerity, - of all the world's worst behaviour. Fathers sell their children, husbands their wives, wives betray their husbands, broth-ers kill each other, friends are false, and all because of money. In the light of all this, tell me that we Wendat are not right in refusing to touch, or so much as to look at sil-ver?
For Europeans in 1703, this was heady stuff."

ChatGPT loosened up some guardrails, so you can post a photo into it and it will turn it into a Studio Ghibli style picture. I must admit however, it does a good job as portraying members of the Trump administration as stereotypical anime villains.

To everyone commenting here how gross and unhealthy McDonald's is. Congrats on your totally original thought. 🙄
Picture of Jim Gaffigan reading "I am tired of people saying that they are better than McDonald's. You may have never set foot in McDonald's, but you have your own McDonald's. Maybe instead of buying a Big Mac you read us weekly. Hey that's still mcdonald's, it's just served up a little different. Maybe your McDonald's is telling yourself that Starbucks frappuccino is not a milkshake, or maybe you watch glee. It's all McDonald's. McDonald's of the soul. Momentary pleasure followed by incredible guilt eventually leading to cancer."

Here's the part from the article for the curious. Like the other reply said, the big difference is that people on the extreme right are more likely to have access to platforms to get their views to normies, where as far-leftists tend to not have those platforms.
The text reads:
"...the far right. Additionally, this study has focused on the extreme right, but further studies could investigate the effects of media platforming of views articulated by extreme left-wing actors. Based on our results, we have no reason to believe that attitudinal and normative updating would not happen in the same way."
