Actually, I received this email yesterday. It's not true that you need a tutorial to use Boldbobbin, apparently. Too intuitive. (this is a redirection from my hostpoint email to my gmail, btw)

Just had one realisation: it's useless to build embroidery software if you're the only one who knows how to use it. So I made a full-fledged tutorial that even comes with basic digitizing theory to get you started on your creative journey. 👉 boldbobbin.com/tutorial

I’m working on a tutorial for Boldbobbin to teach people how to do basic embroidery. This will be what you will learn to do! Because yeah it’s nice to build but if I’m the only one who knows how to use it, that kind of defeats the purpose.

Boldbobbin v1.2.6 PRO gives you full stitch analysis. You'll know before you stitch where your design can be problematic!

Boldbobbin v1.2.6 is out! New cool things: - an inner satin stitch pattern, so you can make patterns that are nicer than purely fill stitch (star example) - pixel art with mini-satin!! (super excited about the results there) And finally fixed an annoying .PES export bug. Enjoy! 🧵

Testing out a new stitch pattern for pixel art. The change of satin stitch direction is what gives it this special pixelated effect! Also the route was optimised so that there is no trim. Some stitch connect the two eyes and are covered by the red pixels.

Boldbobbin v1.2.4 just got released! "Pixel art" is a new object type in the software: with a dedicated mini-editor, you can paint a sprite on a grid and it stitches out as cross-stitch embroidery.

Embroidery is fundamentally a vector field discretization problem. The cool part about it is that you can create textures. Here is a preview for what's coming soon in boldbobbin.com
An embroidery of an heart with heart texture.

When you create a satin stitch with a corner, it creates a small singularity. There are several ways to solve it as shown below, and the result can look pretty different depending on your choice.

There are some gold nuggets in old games. Chrono Trigger blew my mind, its gameplay still feels amazing for today's standards.

Boldbobbin — The Modern Workspace for Embroidery Digitizing
The modern embroidery workspace in your browser or on your desktop.

I'm building it solo. Just one person who got tired of the existing tools and decided to make something better. Which means I actually read every piece of feedback. And I want yours!

It works natively on Windows/MacOS. Don't wanna install anything? Just use it in your browser. It's meant to be intuitive to use and features the most important things you'll need to start digitizing.

Other software? Same UI style, prices to the thousands. By talking to digitizers, I realised that the gap I felt was common. We deserve better. That's why I developed Boldbobbin, the modern embroidery workspace for indie crafters and small embroidery sellers.

Embroidery design is made on ugly four-figure legacy software. I felt it the first time I had use an embroidery machine. It was within a month of a paper deadline. I sat in front of my lab's software: a UI so unintuitive it took me 40 minutes to understand how to draw... a square (literally).
Me raging at an old embroidery UI.

Yeah, I unzipped an Overleaf .zip source file last time and it was not nested. So annoying when this happens.

TetWeave: Isosurface Extraction using On-The-Fly Delaunay Tetrahedral Grids for Gradient-Based Mesh Optimization
TetWeave is a novel isosurface representation that jointly optimizes a tetrahedral grid and directional distances for gradient-based mesh processing like multi-view 3D reconstruction. It dynamically b...

🛠️ TetWeave can be used in many applications: ✅ Mesh compression ✅ Geometric texture generation ✅ Photogrammetry (8/9)

🏆 Results? TetWeave guarantees watertight, manifold, and intersection-free meshes, and outperforms FlexiCubes and DMTet in memory efficiency and mesh quality. (7/9)

👁️ Because we compute the grid on the fly, the point cloud can be located anywhere! We develop a resampling strategy that allocates more points where they matter most (like highly detailed regions) based on rendering error or customizable approaches. (6/9)

🎛️ We introduce a notion of directional signed distance, encoded as spherical harmonics on each grid vertex. This allows precise vertex placement and sharper details! (5/9)

Alexandre Binninger @alexbinninger.bsky.social · 08/05/2025
💡 TetWeave solves this by dynamically constructing the grid via Delaunay triangulation! Our representation simply consists of a point cloud with an SDF value. To reconstruct a target mesh from images, we jointly optimize the grid and the signed distance at each point. (4/9)

Alexandre Binninger @alexbinninger.bsky.social · 08/05/2025
🔍 Methods like DMTet or FlexiCubes jointly optimize the implicit representation and the grid structure from which the final mesh is extracted. However, they rely on grids with fixed topology, which leads to memory inefficiency and poor scaling. (3/9)

Alexandre Binninger @alexbinninger.bsky.social · 08/05/2025
🤔 Meshes are ubiquitous in computer graphics. However, their fixed topology and the difficulty of recovering from a bad state make them a poor choice for gradient-based optimization pipelines, such as 3D reconstruction. (2/9)

Inspired by Clairen from Rivals of Aether II, I generated this futuristic black cat with SD-πXL. It turned out to look a bit evil, so I tried with a dog and... yeah, it feels different. Which one would you choose to side with?
