i feel like commercial breaks used to have different ads. now i’m just subjected to the same sydney sweeney gambling ad over and over again

hagen smith had a 29% zone rate in a playoff start and didn’t allow any runs. inspirational stuff

harper doing all that pandering just for his entire phillies career to be remembered as john kruk shouting "run" in their final postseason appearance

drake baldwin putting the nickname “baldy” on his chest protector is extremely confident stuff

i strongly disagree with a commercial for the postseason including a pitcher striking out ke’bryan hayes. the skill level required is just not that high there

alexandra whitley @alexandraw.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

if harper has a normal amount of blood he catches that

i find it very disturbing that ryan rolison is spelled with only one L; it clearly should be rollison

i'm always fascinated by teams watching a guy like adley rutschman play terribly for months, and no better than adequately for years, and still insisting on hitting them high in the order for some reason

three days ago tony vitello said he would get morgan into a game and apparently he was just lying? or messing with the guy?

Alex Pavlovic on Twitter:

Zach Morgan won’t be activated, will end up getting two stints in big leagues and a taxi squad week without getting in a game. Pretty brutal. Giants used record-tying 71 players, but somehow didn’t get an at-bat for a homegrown guy from Stockton.

210

alexandra whitley @alexandraw.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

so the giants promised that they would get zach morgan into a game so that he wouldn’t be a phantom big leaguer and then just forgot about him?

giants bunting has shot way up during the season. 3.8% of batted balls in september is the most of any team in any month this year, first team month since 2018 to cross even 3.5%

table from baseball savant of sf giants's bunts (as pitches) per batted ball (as total) by month

Rk. Team Month Year Pitches Total Pitch %
1 SF Sep/Oct 2026 19 495 3.8
2 SF Aug 2026 15 693 2.2
4 SF Jul 2026 9 652 1.4
3 SF Jun 2026 13 696 1.9
5 SF May 2026 6 786 0.8
6 SF Mar/Apr 2026 4 811 0.5

with that single, jung hoo lee raised the collective giants batting average vs emmet sheehan to .058, up from .057 entering today (104 ab, 6 games)

bellozo gave up 10 runs (5 hr) in 10 1/3 innings for the rockies and 114 runs (30 hr) in 113 1/3 innings for their triple-a team

010

alexandra whitley @alexandraw.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

Philip Abner is the first reliever this year to allow four home runs in one appearance. Vallente Bellozo famously allowed four in five batters vs the Phillies last year

if the marlins have to use sandy alcantara as a closer in a dead (for them) september game despite a 14-player pitching staff, then they should just fold the team

i see we have reached the insulting your intelligence phase of the posey era

KNBR tweet:

"The ninth inning obviously has been a huge issue, but our bullpen ERA when you take out the ninth inning is sixth in baseball... There's talent there but we don't feel comfortable resting on what we have."

Zack Minasian defends his bullpen while acknowledging ninth inning issues.
