There are 17 different methods to measure whether confidence tracks accuracy, and these do not include Bayesian or Information Theory based measurements. We present MetaSignal with @makwana.bsky.social @lazyneuron.bsky.social and @brianodegaard.bsky.social to have common platform to access them.

Psychophysics & sample size debate 👀Small “n” isn’t automatically weak 📊Large “n” isn’t always the only path to rigour This Perception Editorial revisits a long-standing tension in vision science Small n does not mean poor research. ↓ Full paper: doi.org/10.1177/0301...

Really happy to have presented my first poster at #VSS2026! There were so many great posters and talks. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and heard me talking about Perceptual Confidence on Auditory-Induced Visual Position Biases. I hope to see you all next year with more great science :)

I think it's important for neuroscientists to reinforce this too. It's the first thing I teach in my cog neuro class. A thing isn't more real just because it's found in the brain. Every psychological thing must be in the brain at some level

It takes a village to produce research with impact. This is the idea that motivated us to write this paper, published today.  Kudos to the team: @lluisdanus.bsky.social @william-dinneen.bsky.social @carotorreblanca.bsky.social @guygrossman.bsky.social @asc.upenn.edu www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...

Students should read primary literature, not AI summaries
Trainees need to learn how to identify and understand a neuroscience paper’s major takeaways without outsourcing the work to large language models.

Last week we kicked off our first lab meeting of the new academic year. No scientific presentation this time. Instead, we were tasked with designing experiments to answer some *truly critical* research questions.
Big seminar room, with people sitting in comfortable red seats. Three people (the organizers) are on the stage.Slide titled "Questions". The text on the slide is:
"1. Can we distinguish between real vs. fake zoom laughter?
2. Can a ferret learn to DJ?
3. Can statistical modelling predict the microwaves behaviour better than intuition?
4. Do coffee breaks transfer more knowledge than official meetings?
5. Can the cleanliness of someone's desk predict the prettiness of their figures?"

As a humanities professor, I completely agree with this take. Students will occasionally say to me "I chose this class because I thought it would be easy" I usually ask them, "why did you think that would be easy?" I know the answer, but I think it's useful for them to feel comfortable answering
