Nothing gives me hope for society, for order amid chaos, for the perseverance of human kindness like a trip to the NY DMV.

Sensor Ghost is a no-wave art-punk trio from DC featuring Mike Andre, Amanda Huron, and Sam Lavine. Their spiky sound channels the freaked-out energy of DC punk. Their debut LP, Irritation on Demand, recorded with Ian MacKaye & Don Zientara, is now up for pre-order. Listen on Bandcamp!

Huey Lewis really expects a lot from his drug in “I Want a New Drug.”

2025 will mark 30 years of driving (or being driven) around Salt Lake City at night listening to Sonic Youth’s Washing Machine.

For the nerds and nostalgians, I've assembled a gallery of all the Arthur Magazine covers, with links to PDFs for 18 out of the 35 issues. (PDFs for the remaining issues should be available in Spring, 2025.) Happy reading, and enjoy all the vintage ads! arthurmag.com/read-the-mag...

John Zorn :: A Dreamers Christmas aquariumdrunkard.com/2024/12/16/john-zorn-a-dreamers-christmas When Zorn’s combo applied their considerable skills to classic holiday fare, they managed to make one of the greatest and grooviest Christmas albums of all time.

What year was the hard cutoff for funky record scratching on indie rock records?

I would like somebody to start a tribute-type band that performs an imagined post-“Adventure” Television album — plays the songs that didn’t come out (“Kingdom Come”) and the tracks that wound up on the first TV solo album (“Breakin in My Heart”) as an alternate history-style “third” record.

Reviewed the stellar new album from Max D & Matt Papich's duo Lifted, via @brianfoote.bsky.social's great Peak Oil. One of the vibiest records I've heard this year, ft. Dustin Wong, Jeremy Hyman, Mezey, Motion Graphics, Earthen Sea, Jordan GCZ, and Tim Kinsella pitchfork.com/reviews/albu...
