38 years ago I bought the U.S. LP for my cousin in Greece, got the CD for myself only recently and loving every bit of it.

So cool! I wish I had that album. I just came across a music video he did around the time of this album that I taped on VHS long ago. I’ve got the two ‘Hits’ albums that includes some tunes from ‘Dirty Mind’ but you’ve got gold there!

My illustrations lately shifted toward action scenes than stationary characters. Here’s one I did this past Summer—a redo of a previous ill. I did of a Stormtrooper that appears in ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’. #ImperialPatrolTrooper #PartolTrooper #Stormtrooper #StarWars #HanSolo #Qira #AStarWarsStory
Graphic of a vector illustration by me, Alec A. Sarkas showing an Imperial Patrol Trooper in hot pursuit of Han and his stolen speeder. The Trooper is shown in the foreground at a three-quarters view from the shoulders up leaning forward on his bike (out of view) shouting, “PULL OVER!” in a cartoon balloon. The top part of the graphic shows the chase from afar with only the silhouettes of Han in his speeder with Qi’ra and the Trooper on his bike with the noise spelled out in the letters, “WEERHRRR!!!” lettered very sharply in a wide style. Smoke is in the background, lines show the extreme speed of the chase and fires are spurting out from their engines. Smoke is also in the background in front of the closeup Trooper. The Trooper’s armor looks solid. The helmet has builtin goggles, a frowning “mouth” with “teeth” and what looks to be a breathing apparatus along the bottom and to the front chin area. There’s also an extra front panel on the forehead area. There are lines following the hemet showing sheer speed the Trooper is going. My signature is in cursive along the bottom center, “Alec A. Sarkas," above the Trooper's chest. The Trooper is illustrated in a cartoon-like style with bold and thin lines looking menacing. I used a 12-inch Imperial Patrol Trooper plastic toy doll and two die cast vehicles from the ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ era as model sources and looked at a key scene from the movie for inspiration. The original pencil sketch (not shown) and Trooper vector artwork were completed both on July 6, 2021 but completely overhauled into a brand-new action scene illustration on June 20, 2026, updated the next day and again on June 22, 2026.

Hunted down this 12” from a then close record store a little more than a year ago. I didn’t mind the cover being beaten up so much because the record is in good shape. It echoes her life. We should have appreciated her more while she was still with us. No one could match her combo of voice & beauty.

This was the 1st 45 I shelled out big bucks for way back in the Nineties. I wasn’t making a lot of dough at the time. I thought long and hard when I came across this in Philly at one of the record stores I frequented on South Street. No regrets and luckily I never stopped dancing to the radio since.

Photo of my left hand holding the enya “Caribbean blue” import CD single (with the cover showing) outdoors against a clear, daylight sky. There is a 99 cents sticker on the left side and remnants of dried glue from a peeled sticker to the right on the clear slimline case. I bought this WAY after the release at a record store that sold mostly used CDs, records and tapes. The version here of the title song is an edit and that version does not appear on any other enya album release as far as I know.

K-2SO ill. by me I recently redid this past summer and posted on my Galactic Countdown tumblr. I started experimenting with doing my own handcrafted text instead of using fonts and I am not done… #illustration #RogueOne #AStarWarsStory #Andor #K-2SO #graffiti #VectorArt #SecurityDroid #CassianSaidSo
Vector portrait illustration of K-2SO by me, Alec A. Sarkas. Kay is looking in front of him toward the left. This is a three-quarters view. His coverings are reflective with a cold background that reflects on his sides. I used a K-2SO jumbo Big-Figs toy as a model for the original pencil sketch (not shown, completed 5/12/20) which I used as a template for the vector art done originally May 12, 2020 and remade June 7, 2026. My signature is in cursive across Kay's chest (to the right-hand side), “Alec A. Sarkas.” The name 'K-2SO" appears at the top of the graphic in graffiti-like letters illustrated, again, by me. There are paint drips dropping down from each letter or number.

34 years ago after I bought this was the 1st time I decided to not completely rip off the cellophane wrap from a new record. The sticker is also proof that record companies were sick of vinyl by 1992. They might have well stuck on, “DON’T BUY THIS” + ‘Erotica’ was only on cassette and CD in the U.S.
Photo of my left hand holding the M “Erotica” 12 inch from the left side with the cover showing and a yoga mat in the background. Clear, loose cellophane covers the single with the top slightly exposed. There’s a sticker on the upper right-hand corner stating: ALSO AVAILABLE ON Compact-Disc Maxi-Single AND Cassette Maxi-Single”.

Voilà! I lucked out with this used copy. Everything was pristine and only 5 bucks, back when records weren’t “cool.”
Photo of BFI poster included with “flesh for fantasy” import 12 inch single with photography by Guido Harari. Billy Idol has a sneer, eyeliner and a cross earring on (his right ear) and is holding up his left hand to his right side with a leather fingerless glove on. His bleached hair is spiked and shirt collar is up. The background of the photo is plain. A wooden floor is behind the poster.

Photo of my right hand holding the standard “flesh for fantasy” import twelve inch single. There are wooden drawers in the background. The photo of Billy Idol on the cover has his left hand in front of the left side of his face to the left. His short hair is spiked. His right ear has a cross earring. He’s wearing black eyeliner. His hand has a fingerless leather glove on with a zipper on it open. BFI’s name logo to the right has “IDOL” in all caps, slanted and “BILLY•” within those letters straight on. The title “flesh for fantasy” is underneath that with “BELOW THE BELT MIX” underneath. Leather is in the background for the text. Billy’s shirt is open with the collar up and he has 3 necklaces on. One is in the shape of a small human skull with another that looks like a cross but it’s mostly out of view. BFI is not smiling and has a bit of a sneer. His right eye is looking at the viewer. There’s a mirrored sticker that says “INCLUDES FREE POSTER.”

Running gag between me and my friends with this record is that when choosing this song from a jukebox somebody asked another friend “What’s on the other side” and they answered “I know it” which prompted the other to say “Yeah but what is it” followed again with a louder “I know it…” Jukebox heroes.

My teen self did not realize both sides had exclusive edits 41 years ago. I was with my parents at some busy crowded mall and had less than minute’s time before I had to leave the record store to keep up with them. All I saw was “Angel” on the sticker label on both sides. Hunted it down years later.

35 years ago I made the economical decision to only get the 12 inch because the CD maxi’s additional track vs. the record was the album version. That didn’t last long. Years later I got the CD maxi-single. I’m a sucker for good design and Dance music. Also, the happy family on the beach is a riot!
My left hand holding the erasure Specially-Priced Maxi-Single over a throw rug in the background. There are ‘e’ logos all over the cover and on top of the stereotypical family of three at a beach scene that looks like stock photography: the photo credit goes to The Douglas Brothers.

Having the 7 track CD maxi-single was not enough for fans like me. I had to get the 12inch for the dub. Surprised 35 years later the cover still holds up with the cheaper cardboard record companies switched to. This is the front side everyone thought was the back. I’d flip it over every single time.

It took me almost 43 years to find this, but that I did from a local record store. The “Holiday” 12inch single was never available in the U.S. to the public. Only DJs got the promo only copies and that is most likely what we heard played on the radio in the early ‘80s. The song still makes me dance.

Glad you liked it! They played it on ABC tonight & saw most of it. I saw it when it was originally released at my town’s cinema with my parents in 1980. I was 10 years old and documented that I saw it in my first diary. Dolly was such a natural that it’s tough to believe it was her first movie roll.

I have that same "Borderline" single but got it much later and after a friend mentioned the foldout poster that I had no clue existed back in 1986. Remember when 45s came and went? I tracked down a used copy in the 90s (Score!) and was so happy to find out my friend wasn't making the whole thing up.

I drew this 6 years ago. I re-illustrated it today. HBD M! #madonna #luckystar #alecsarkas #drawing #illustration #graffiti #design #80s #madonna-thefirstalbum #dancemusic #vectorartwork #fanart #graphicdesign #handlettering #neon #hotpink #electricblue #purplelipstick #blueeyeshadow #platinumblond
Vector graphic of my Madonna illustration. It is a reinterpretation of her first album which I re-titled 'Lucky Star.' I drew a simple pencil line drawing of Madonna back on July 30, 2020 in a sketchbook using the back cover of her debut album—U.S. release—as a source image (which I changed around), used my drawing as a template and completed the vector artwork for this most recent iteration today: Sunday, August 16, 2026. The text "MADONNA" is on the left side in graffiti style along with "LUCKY" on the other side with a 5-pointed star. My signature appears on the bottom right-hand corner, Alec A. Sarkas, in cursive across M's bare left shoulder. Madonna's first album cover was going to look a lot different than the one we are used to seeing in the U.S. First off, the title was going to be 'Lucky Star,' named after the same song that starts the album. Martin Burgoyne—who did the art design for M's "Burning Up" twelve inch single—took photos of Madonna clad only in a white cloth. The direction was to have sex appeal. M scrapped that idea and design. Gary Heery was the photographer for the debut with Carin Goldberg doing the art direction. The focus was M's fashion sense and those rubber bracelets, focusing in on her face on the front and back cover with only the inner sleeve having a sexier approach (M's bellybutton is in full view). The CD booklet (released much later than the LP and cassette tape) also has another photo of M focused in on her face, this time biting down on the metal choker chain around her neck. The inner sleeve art was only black-and-white. The cover photo does look black-and-white at first glance, but the red color used for the O's album title and artist (repeated twice at each end) on the cover is also used sparingly on the photo as well, giving it a very slight mezzo tint—the classic iconic look of the album M was said to be after. What I for this illustration is combine the 2 looks and added graffiti—paying homage to the '80s NYC music scene.

I missed this 26 years ago because I wasn’t onboard until she shaved her head. I used to go into record stores and scoff at her song titles because I was a musical snob. I never heard them until I haphazardly bought her first greatest hits with this on it. Lucky Rocks! You don’t know until you know.
Photo of my left hand holding the limited edition greatest hits double CD. A wooden floor is in the background. The CD cover showing is reflective and embossed with a lace pattern. Brit is centered with a stylized leather and fur outfit revealing her pierced belly button. The title logo is in a stamp style with the text, “BRITNEY SPEARS, GREATEST HITS: MY PREROGATIVE,” set in an elongated grungy font.
