I am playing around with a simple model of team chemistry that uses a running total of how many passes between players there are, and then uses that total to measure how much a team's starters have played together. Here is NYCFC since 2017:

A chart showing the cumulative historical number of passes between NYCFC players for each game of the season. The values peak in 2020-2022 before dropping precipitously into 2023, but are steadily rising in 2024

HT: This game is going as expected. Cincinnati has the better chances, but not scoring should be a huge boost. We need to figure out how to beat their counter-press. 👀 on Santi because he’s currently struggling with being man marked. Expect to see small changes to exploit that.
