Tonight at 2-player #boardgames night we played 3 roll/flip and writes: we finished our Welcome to the Moon campaign, started a campaign of My City roll and build, then finished with Cartographers (pictured). All were brilliant!

Got back to #parkrun this morning after a few months of hurty-knee stopping me. Got my worst ever time and tripped over a tree root, but happily my knee felt fine and the weather was great. Looking forward to getting back into it.

This week at #boardgames night we played Istanbul. It had been ages and I had to relearn it, but I did really love the movement in this game. Then we set it up and played it again with the coffee expansion, which was cool - wouldn't say it's a must-add but an interesting variation.

Even orcs are now only 52%, down from from 57% before - the extra MB on the big-uns likely to blame. I think they now only do well vs the less played races, so probably a tricky race to justify playing if you want to win a tournament that's expected to have the meta-strong races there.

Their dark elf matchup dropped over 10% too, likely because every dark elf team fields 1 or 2 hit-and-run assassins. Necromantic also dropped ~10% - I think that's because elite skill tax (like eurobowl rules) is encouraging tackle wraiths instead of guard. I've even seen tackle+MB stacked wraiths.

But now in BB2025 they have dropped to a win rate of 51% from 2452 games. Partially this can be attributed to tiering, but I'm sure it's also due to other teams' changes. Their human, undead, and OWA matchups have dropped precipitously due to tackle+MB being prevalent.

They were known to do great vs some popular teams: Shambling Undead, Necromantic Horror, Orcs and Humans. They held their own vs elves, which weren't great matchups but weren't disasters.

What happened to Amazons in the new #bloodbowl edition? They were virtually unchanged, but they are sensitive to meta changes. From the release of the Kara Tample Harpies in Oct 2022 to the end of BB2020 in Dec 2025, they had a 55.4% win rate from 16233 games. From bbtv.akorus.de:

Off Season round-up: I came 4/16 and amazingly won Most Touchdowns despite only getting 4 from 3 games! The highest was 5 from the runner up but that was passed down to me. Lost a few ratings points but still holding on to England's 2nd highest Orc ranking (it's the little things ...). #bloodbowl

R3 of Off Season vs MrToast's amazons. It goes very well, as I receive, remove some players, then score. He is struggling on his drive and after popping the ball loose, I somewhat showboat a TTM to win 2-0. I got 4 cas and he had 2 linewomen sent off. I finish the tournament 2-0-1. #bloodbowl.

R2 of Off Season vs gcoleman76's Chaos. I overcommit on his drive and he hands off to run past my defense. On my drive I underestimate his wrestle beastman and he sacks the ball and wins 2-0. Played a bit rubbish! His beastman thick skull saved 4 of his players from KOs. #bloodbowl

But a 1-reroll-1, then 11, 11 took him out, then a 16-apo-15 killed him! I did score on T8. 2nd half I scored on a surprisingly agile saurus. He had to score quickly, which isn't easy with nurgle, and the ball wasn't totally safe so I was able to sack and score for a pyrrhic 3-1 victory.

Tonight my Lizardmen had an eventful #bloodbowl league match vs Mike's Nurgle. He scored on about turn 6 so I went for the 3 turn score. But on the next turn, my bedt saurus (block, mighty blow) blitzed his opponent then made a rush to stand in the right square for a cage.

My parnter is struggling so I scored quickly, going for the win, but he nicely scores back and I lose 2-1, 1-0 to him on cas. Needed to do more armour breaks to have a better chance in this matchup, really. #bloodbowl

It's Barton Bowl 6 tomorrow, a #bloodbowl pairs tournament with 28 teams. It includes many highly rated coaches and the ruleset is elf-friendly. There are many pairs of high elves + dark elves. I originally signed up with high elves, but swapped to dark elves after enjoying them at Home Nations.

This week at #boardgames night I played as Hearth Vigil in Spirit Island vs Level 2 Habsburg mining company. This was peak Spirit Island, with everyone *sure* we'd lost with so much blight on the island. We just played a few more turns, but slowly it turned around as our spirits ramped up and we won

What else was pretty cool was that I achieved a side-quest of winning Stunty Cup with all 5 stunty races. And also progressed with another side-quest of getting all 31 races to a winning record. 5 more of those to go (Chaos, Nurgle, Skaven, Nobility, Khorne). #bloodbowl

Siren Cup roundup: I finished on 2-1-0 for 3rd out of 28 coaches, which I'm really pleased with. The games felt very hairy and Jordell was the superstar that carried the team. Being on a knife-edge for how Jordell rolled was not ideal, so I don't think I'll become a full time Fling coach! #bloodbowl

R3 of Siren Bowl vs Mawph's chorfs. I steal all 6 rerolls but Jordell dies on turn 3. Really good game, I don't score in my drive but turn him over when he has to dodge his ball carrier away from a treeman. I recover, toss a halfling and score. He does manage to equalise for a 1-1 draw. #bloodbowl

At #boardgames night this week we played Unfathomable. I was a Brazilian antiques dealer who found this strange mask she couldn't get rid of. Anyway, the boat ride wasn't great, with mother Dagon breaking the ship and human/fish hybrids driving us insane. Wasn't my fault, I was a regular human!

But Joe equalised with a thrown goblin. 2nd half Joe goes for another TTM but failed and spent all his rerolls (!). In the scrum, a saurus caught the ball and ran off with it for a 2-1 win. My kroxigor also killed dead his rat ogre (yikes!). A saurus on my team learnt block and I'm 6-1-1 now.

This weekend we went back to New Zealand for Great Western Trail. This time I was sitting closer to the boating board so I did more ship stuff and did no shearing. I also got loads of the cycling cards. I really like this version, it's probably my favourite of the three. #boardgames

I couldn't go this year, but I was following ThrudBall online. Congrats to BB_Nut who won with Dark Elves, and also to moose who came second with Wood Elves. Moose only played his first NAF game in Jan this year (against me!) so to come 2/132 is an amazing achievement. #bloodbowl

4 fun games of Blood on the Clocktower yesterday including all the base scripts. The TB game was the best, where I was the Imp sat next to the Saint, bluffing Empath 1 all game. Humans are doing really well but what's more they're doing well against high-strength races you wouldn't typically think they would be good against, like Tomb Kings and Nurgle. The ST-3 catchers are making a massive difference.

To beat High Elves in this edition, you need to play an agility team. High Elves have comfortable records vs high-strength teams. Anti-elf teams like Humans and Norse only have 50% win rates vs high elves. Stats from bbtv.akorus.de

Towards the bottom, it's perhaps surprising to see Tomb Kings down at 46% as they were a top-10 team in 2nd season. Norse and Dwarfs are also suffering. Khorne are judged by many to be unplayable but they're not doing too badly. Necro and Undead are tied despite many thinking Necro are now better.
