A recomp you can play without fear of it being AI Bro slop. And it's rejecting those who write whole issue reports with GenAi. You love to see it. 👏

A warning to AI Bros that it's proudly human made and that bans from repros will be handed out if Claude is a contributor on any PRs

If the Symphony of the Night redub ruins the game for you, then that implies you don't like the rest of the game and only care for the voice acting and dialogue. But that isn't a hot take. It's a fact.

Now that I think about it, when has port begging for a game ever ended? Castlevania Requiem is obviously one that still gets requested to this day. I remember the backlash for Bayonetta 2 & 3 (mostly 2), Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Monster Hunter 3 & 4 and such being Nintendo-exclusive back in the day.

People have been port begging for eight years now. It *won't* happen simply because it's the PSP versions running on a first party emulator. But in a day and age when Sony is doubling down on the "you own nothing" attitude and the only physical release is through Limited Run, it sucks.

This is sadly very true. Doesn't matter if they care about the film or series in question. Doesn't matter if they have something meaningful to say. Doesn't matter if they actually agree with their points. This is their job.

Happy 40th anniversary, Castlevania! Konami's iconic, action packed nightmare kicked off an incredible run on this date in 1986. Japan's famous gaming weekly, Famitsu, celebrated its debut on the Famicom Disk System via a series of articles that followed in October to aid would-be vampire hunters!

This page describes the game, its many areas, and features a number of screenshots for Dracula's castle along with a few tips. It also celebrated the arrival of the game for the Famicom Disk System where it retailed for ¥2,980.

A number of other stages are described on this page including a few words on describing the dangers ahead such as using Holy Water to deal with hunchbacks to taking care on crossing a crumbling, stone bridge. Watch out for those birds!

This page belongs to the first of a series of more in-depth articles covering strategies on getting through the game in Famitsu's weekly magazine (also issued in October). This page describes the story of Simon Belmont's role in facing down Dracula who has awakened in 1876 after a century of sleep, his evil once more terrorizing the land from his 'demon castle'.

A page from another series of articles later in October from Famitsu. This time, we're at the climax of the story! Dracula awaits and the page provides a few tips on how to fight him along with screenshots of the path to his dreaded lair.

Castlevania Bloodlines and Symphony of the Night, the only entries in this prolific series to have been released on Sega hardware. The Dreamcast was supposed to get Castlevania Resurrection, but it should be pretty obvious why that was cancelled.

Castlevania Bloodlines (NA) aka The New Generation (PAL)

Set during World War I, Bloodlines stars Belmont relative John Morris and his friend Eric Lecard, who trek across Europe to prevent vampire Elizabeth Bartley from resurrecting her uncle Count Dracula.

Wield the Vampire Killer whip or Alucard Spear (misspelled "Alcarde Spear") and experience this blood-pumping chapter in the Castlevania saga!

I don't think I need to explain Symphony of the Night to you all. PS1 classic, helped codify the "Metroidvania" subgenre name, etc. The Saturn port, however, is far more obscure and elusive.

This version was one of many games on the Saturn that stayed in Japan due to the console's poor sales elsewhere. It contains exclusive items and areas, and was the first port to include a playable Maria Renard.

None of the additional content was ever carried over to more modern ports. Even Maria plays vastly different here compared to the PSP/PS4/mobile version and her first appearance in Rondo of Blood.

Screenshot of the cancelled Castlevania Resurrection, starring Sonia Belmont from the Game Boy's Castlevania Legends.

It would've been the series' whip-cracking third venture into 3D following the N64 duology, but Lament of Innocence for the PS2 takes that title.

To be honest, when they asked about first party exclusives, I questioned to myself if there was really much to get excited for. Even if you count first party games with PC ports and/or are remakes from older consoles, that only adds a handful.
