A fungal perspective: Ecological reinterpretation of short‐term temporal variation in airborne eDNA
Airborne environmental DNA (eDNA) is a powerful tool for assessing biodiversity, but its temporal dynamics and applicability to fungi remain poorly understood. Here we discuss how short-term airbo...

I am very interested in the application of AI-based methods in ecology and believe that it still has a long way to go. I think this special feature covers some key points in ecological inference from different perspectives, which I hope will stimulate the development of this field

New paper! Here we saw how ectomycorrhizal, fungi exhibit a certain degree of functional redundancy, as different species can perform similar ecological roles, while saprotrophic fungi display higher niche complementarity. Hope you like it! link.springer.com/article/10.1...

Fantastic mycological excursion 🍄🌲 by @mycopat.bsky.social in an old-growth forests of the Lindsjön Nature Reserve, guided by Anders Dahlberg and with the wonderful collaboration of Alison Pouliot. 📸BTW, don’t miss her stunning fungal photography (and other) at alisonpouliot.com/fungal-realm/
The soil in the reserve is unusually calcareous and therefore provides a valuable environment for rare plants and animals. Old and fallen trees host a wide range of fungi, lichens, and insects that find it difficult to survive in modern production forestsThis Amanita muscaria fruits and grows in symbiosis with this small pine and with very little soil. The mycelium of this Hydnellum forms a continuous tissue that makes it possible to identify the size of the individual, and if you step on it during the dry season, it can even change the sound of your footsteps

Sampling on late growing season for FUN-URB Proj @wslresearch.bsky.social completed. With autumn arriving in Uppsala, the city’s trees and leaves look very different. How does urbanisation shape diversity and function of microbial communities on their leaves?
