Domestic abuse incidents during the 2026 World Cup reached their highest recorded level compared with similar tournaments, according to the UK Football Policing Unit. 384 domestic abuse incidents were reported: 17% of 2,345 total incidents logged during the tournament...

Individual responsibility only works when people have real choice. Children watching the World Cup or Commonwealth Games are not making considered judgments about alcohol marketing - they are being exposed to it repeatedly, at an age when evidence shows it shapes their future drinking behaviour...

his research shows that, as far as the children are concerned, this is alcohol advertising. Promoting alcohol to children is immoral and dangerous. ScotGov have committed to reconsider restricting alcohol marketing, particularly that which affects children. Let’s get on with it!
