It seems like the kind of thing that is much cheaper to do now? It takes me out of the story, wondering why they are focusing on a random surfer that isn't Bodhi, but maybe if you like the "behind the scenes" point of view it's different.

@chrishewitt.bsky.social Question for the pod: Do you notice and get annoyed when a 4k re-release of a film highlights the stunt-people's faces? The guy riding a horse in True Lies is definitely not Arnie! Or the surfers in Point Break. Why don't they digital update the faces?

Everyone is talking about how being friends with Epstein should have barred Mandelson from the role. But I thought that being a friend of a friend of Trump was the whole point?

Hmm, if Sky (or the NowTV part of it) loses the HBO content, I'll be unsubscribing from that.

So the c-suite find massive productivity improvements from AI, but regular workers don't... So the most senior positions should be most at risk of replacement?

Travelling to london for an "Accessible digital futures" event, mostly around use of AI in education and accessibility. I think. Will find out.

Normally I read the emails, find them interesting and move on with my day. This time you left such a cliffhanger... you got me.
Last section of the email which reads: "I realize this project sounds kind of boring. But one, it offered me a chance to see what Moltbot could do with all of those services I had stitched together. Two, if it worked, I would create something unique to me that I wouldn't have been able to build myself.
And finally - which I realized only at the end of the process - the specific ways in which it broke persuaded me to uninstall Moltbot from
my computer. Upgrade to continue reading."
And then. it shows an upgrade button.

@bsky.app could you test videos in the iOS app please? I keep getting trapped and having to quit the app. It goes full screen, and after a while stops responding to any tap or swipe.

Yarp: front right is phone, left for keys and headphone case, back pockets for litter (until I walk past a bin). I’ve given up on wallet and coins, but they used to be left pocket.

I do wonder if in future we'll be able to joke that: They came for the NHS, and nothing was done. They came for the Jaguars, and nothing was done. They came for the beer, and holy crap did they unload on the criminals!

The rubber bumper on my old Nokia literally disintegrated. (Found it whilst cleaning out some old boxes. I think it's just over 20 years old.)
An old small Nokia. The outer shell is a fine white powder that comes off on my fingers.

I felt it necessary to resort to 24pt bold text in an email, saying: "Screenreader users do not tab through content!!" Having run a training session (admittedly in their second language) and emphasized that aspect, the follow-up needed to be very clear.

I'll try not to think about the Jackie Chan aspect when I watch it, that's a high bar to reach (given Chan's abilities). Did anyone else think the chair was pixelated? It isn't, but I had to go full-screen to tell. Hmm, maybe I've watched my kids on minecraft too much.

Amused that for almost all the person posts on Facebook (by local people or people I know) all the comments are filtered out by default as not-relevant.
A moany post about the local playground, with only the most relevant comments showing, which is none.

We had a pretty long period of 'free' stuff as there was a land-grab for users, with few safeguards. Now they have to turn a profit and put in safeguards, so the products become less attractive.

I'm got a question about which type of CAPTCHA is best for accessibility. I found my self saying: It's like asking whether sea water is more dry than tap water, they are both intrinsically wet!

Wow, I guess blank page leaves it all to the "imagination". Do you get the same kind of thing each time, or are the topics very different? If they are similar, presumably that says something about the stats of the training data?

Apple's recipe thing, which is part of the News app seems great. Interesting recipes, clear structure and no ads popping up on you. Main problem: How the *bleep* do you find it? It is in the "today" feed if you scroll down a lot, but it is something you need to get straight to, with a button.

I'm looking forward to the Magnifier feature on MacOS: www.macworld.com/article/2780... My vision isn't too bad, but I'm old enough that small print on paper is an issue. Also, it could be an adaptable tool for hybrid meetings with whiteboard or paper-based things!

I think it's worth acknowledging when you get a good response from an MP. I'd written to mine (@sadikal-hassanmp.bsky.social) on a particular law, and I could tell he had actually read it. In stark contrast, a similar email on the same law to my previous MP received a canned response.

I generally try to think of a visual representation. Doesn’t have to be detailed, just something to have there whilst taking. Could be a diagram or a picture. E.g. I found an architectural diagram of a wheelchair ramp for talking about design/ dev education /not/ including accessibility.

In read that the Equalities act and/or the judgement used chromosomes as the basis. My point was that forcing 100% of people into 2 categories on that basis won’t work.

Binary implies one or the other, but it doesn't seem that simple. E.g. people with XY chromosomes can grow up female and even (very rarely) give birth novonordiskfonden.dk/en/news/more... Layer on the complexity of hormones and psychology, it seems logical that some people won't fit the binary view.

I forget where I heard it, but there's a theory that this is all so that Trump can de-value the dollar. It would take a lot of work considering how much dollar use there is outside of the US, but he might just do it.
