#ECK #PostProcess #Reveal Original 📷: @rjrock.bsky.social I wanted to reveal the structure in the otherwise open expanse. Very much an experiment as I worked in the Affinity app instead of my usual Adobe tools.
edits in Affinity App.

Used layers to dodge/burn for lighting on the area with the structure.

Heavily used a disruption filter to create unrealistic but motivated lighting to bring eye to the structure area.

Painted over the light area in the foreground with the stamp tool to create a dark foreground.

Lens blur on the foreground.

Sign the Plug Into Solar Act (SB 868). It legalizes affordable solar panels that plug directly into a home outlet, cutting energy costs dramatically, especially for renters and apartment buildings.

#ECK #PostProcess #Subtraction Original 📷: @rjrock.bsky.social This was a fun exercise. I used some of Adobe's removal tools (which are AI based) to subtract the cables and wires. It did an ok job. I spent some time hand fixing the artifacts. Next target: the big blue screen. I got creative
There were a bunch of edits, and I did this a couple of days ago, so I won't remember them all.

First thing... I removed the wires and cables

Then I created masks for the sky, the buildings on the left, the structure on the right and the track area. I made an additional mask of just the rails. Did tonal/color adjustments for all those.

I created a layer with a copy of just the traveller (dude on platform) and pushed exposure and shadows pretty hard. Then I masked it off and slowly painted back in a little of that pushed layer to bring out the left side of the dude (lighting motivated by sunset).

Then I took a copy of the whole scene to a new layer, fit it into the screen area and used blending and masks to make it look like the screens were showing what the camera sees.

This week's #PostProcess Challenge is #Painterly. Thanks to @rjrock.bsky.social for the image and inspiration. #eck #photoshop #photography #art? With sincere apologies to Leo, the word "painterly" just makes me think of....
In Photoshop...
- added Mona Lisa layer
- flopped the lake horizontally
- created a sky mask
- with stamp tool copied and flipped upside down the clouds from the lake into the sky (to correct for washed out sky)
- color toned the entire landscape to match Mona (desaturate orig and add the golden yellow tone)
- added fiber texture to luminosity across whole image to make it feel like it may have been painted on wood.

MapQuest stood up to Trump, and now its app is reaping the rewards. The “OG of online mapping,” announced Thursday it would not change the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America, despite Trump’s executive order directing the U.S. Department of the Interior to update the lake’s name.

Shockingly, I have a straightforward edit for this week's #PostProcess #Converge challenge. Given two images... one exposed for sky and one for the landscape. My edits in alt. Original image is by Rock @rjrock.bsky.social
All edits in photoshop.

Each image on a layer, masked out the sky on the top layer. Adjust basic tone on each layer.

Touch up edge of mask with attention to allowing more light on the western facing slopes.

Spot removal tool on streaks of light in the sky. They were distracting.

Bright up whites and shadows on the building

Vignette and brush-in darkening of the field in the foreground to put attention further back (the house and sky)

#ECK #PostProcess #DuoTone Original photo by @rjrock.bsky.social I wanted emphasis on the boat in motion. What is it doing while the city in the background seems so alive with light? The mauve color for highlights seemed to work best. Full edit description in Alt.
edit for #postprocess #duotone. original image @rjrock.bsky.social.

Edits in photoshop.
.. Created a b+w version on a separate layer.
.. Created duotone via a Gradient Map adjustment layer set to Color blending mode. Added a white stop in the middle to keep colors from blending.
.. I felt like the sky needed slightly different edits, so made a mask and applied more luminescence in the sky.
.. mirrored a bit of the sky brightness to the foreground water as a reflection.
.. stamped all that to a layer and brought it into Camera Raw for final tone adjustments... including a mask on the boat to bring it up relative to its surroundings.

I am sure the TG-7 is improved, but here's a TG-6 image that would have been much better with my current iPhone 14 Pro. Note the fringe on the part of the flower in the background. And how the bush, further in the background just becomes blobs of color. So, kinda meh.

I have a TG-6. Can confirm that they are OK little cameras. Very rugged. However, at this point my phone takes much better RAW images... so I rarely carry it as that second camera anymore. You can borrow it if you want.

#PostProcess #Temperature challenge... "make an image feel warm or cold." >> Original image from @rjrock.bsky.social << As if the photo were taken through an ice frosted window. #EastCoastKin #Photography
In Lightroom, set to B+W with basic tone adjustments, reduced clarity and texture.

In Photoshop created three layers of the image to control 1) highlights, 2) effects, 3) the base image.

Effects are Diffuse Glow, Ocean Ripple to provide approximation of icy window.

Two adjustment layers. 1) curves applied just to sky to darken mids 2) gradient map to give silvery duotone effect (at 22% opacity)
