Tangent from baseball/softball, which are different sports, but I think it’s weird and annoying that some sports have different rules for men’s and women’s versions (e.g. tennis, lacrosse). The athletic differences are addressed by who competes against whom. Don’t need rule changes on top of that

The latter issue could be addressed by having regular-season seeding count for more (e.g. byes). Teams in the NFL, MLB, and NHL all go through rebuilding years where they suck, aiming to be competitive in the future. It’s not at all unique to the NBA. It’s rational and normal

Missing the point. They can restructure like anyone can, but an advantage of most trades that don’t involve an immediate new contract is that the total cap impact (not just for one year) is lower because the signing bonus counts for the other team. Crosby’s deal is weird and doesn’t really do that
