my partner is disabled but doesn't qualify for SSI because the government sucks, so i support both of us on a single income. even with a half-decent salary, splitting all my funds between two adults means we live well below the poverty line. not uncommon for a couple of queer millennials. 🙃

we're still going to attend nebkon as the rosfield brothers and i'm still going to meet my commission deadlines, but all of our other projects are on indefinite hold while we handle our housing situation. i'm also most likely going to be living at work throughout the latter half of october.

so, as mentioned in the fic note, we are no longer securely housed. due to the flooding, our apartment unit is now full of black mold in both the floors and the ceiling, and the air here is no longer safe to breathe. to make things even worse, our bed is also broken. we can't even sleep comfortably.

sources like pink news or other lgbt-focused outlets may report on things like this differently, but they're transparent about their bias. the NYT is *supposed* to be reporting without bias (even though they don't) so it would be inappropriate for them to publish speculations as to the motive

it was definitely a factor but, at least at the time of publishing, no specific motive was determined. saying that someone's motive was absolutely 100% transphobia without any legal determination is dishonest. unless the article is being published as an editorial, it should only be giving hard facts
